Need a delay in the worst way...really think its gonna be the last piece of gear I need for this rig; everything else I'm rocking kicks ass. I'm posting this here because you guys have had everything under the sun. For those of you that had both, what did you like/dislike about each and which did you keep?

Thanks!

LMAO.....Timefactor vid marked 'private'.....that was subtle manipulative programming sir!

Went and looked at the vids for the Timeline on the Strymon site....they did comprehensive vids for every delay on that thing! Very impressed at most of the tones.

I'm in the same boat as Reza - had both, now I just have the TL.

The TL beats out the TF in every way pretty much. The only areas the TF excelled in were super crystal-clean digital delays, and having a "dual-delay" function for every mode - if you aren't really concerned about either of those two things...the TL is the clear winner. Its that good.

I had both, overall I preferred the Timefactor. It's easier to use than the Timeline, and the digital delay is killer. They were more or less the same on the tape delay, but the ice and moreover the tremolo delay of the Timeline were very interesting. One deal breaker for me was the Timeline's kill dry bug, that took almost a year to get fixed.

The Timeline is overall a better delay than the Timefactor (except for digital and dual delays), but I just couldn't bond with it :( But now I have a simpler El Capistan and everything is OK :)

Nice....it would be nice to have dual delays on every mode, but I guess it's not really necessary.....mostly just dug the clips and the fact that they update it with cool presets for artists I dig...i.e. those Kilminster settings and what not.

EDIT: Holy crap....just found a huge 58 pg thread on TGP with a bunch of Timeline settings listed....some of these look very interesting.

Not intended to hijack, but how does the digital delay on the TF or TL compare with the Flashback? I am looking to get more capability out of a delay (currently have the Flashback), and love it for the digital stuff.

I had both as well as the Flashback. Timeline FTW!!

Timefactor has dual delay on any mode which is it's only advantage over the Timeline. The big thing with the Timefactor though is that it converts your signal to digital, no analog through. Whether this is a big deal or not depends on if you hear a difference with it.

I had the old Damage Control Timeline at the same time as the Timefactor and I prefered the older Timeline.

I haven't had both. So I suck.

But I have been a TimeFactor fanboi, and because of my satiation with this device, I've not wandered into Strymon territory. That's not to say I won't one day, and for the record, everyone I know who has one loves it.

I bought the TimeFactor because I wanted a digital delay which could have 2 delays running simultaneously, a digital readout giving you the delay times in milliseconds and BPM, and the ability to literally control every parameter of the sound. Plus, the Eventide can be used as a studio effect because its dead quiet and has switchable line level inputs/outputs. I tried the Strymon and I can't say its a bad pedal, its a really good pedal, but I wanted something very specific and the TimeFactor satisfied all my requirements and then some! The TimeFactor is kind of hard to use at first though. But once you read the manual and mess around with presets it starts to make sense.

I vote TimeFactor!

For me : TF > FB > TL for digital delay.

Fuck.....I gotta pick one and I know I'm eventually gonna go "shit, maybe I should have got the other one?!"

I'm gonna start with the Timeline and then pick up the Timefactor used as soon after as I can and compare them. Best one for ME stays and the other gets dumped here for a good price.

Good call

I have only directly compared the timefactor with my el cap. The Strymon just has a better, richer and higher quality sound to my ears. I imagine the timeline is better yet.

That's what I did... Go and get directly an El Capistan

Timeline have MIDI? That would be a deciding factor for me.
