Got one offered in a trade for my ‘62 reissue CS SG. Starplayer TV in silver sparkle.

One guy i know has one but I’ve never asked him to play it. He has all the expensive stuff so it’s probably pretty nice.

That silver sparkle is really excellent.

Was reading yesterday how nice they play. Looks pretty cool.
Listened to a couple demos, different sound. Kinda fizzy.

Guess it has a neck P90 and hb bridge.

I am admittingly snobbish when it come to overseas guitars.
Being Korean, I wonder if it has as good a warranty as a KIA?

I’d question if I really wanted to trade a USA made guitar for a Korean made guitar. It would have to be something that’s already on my wish list.

I mean the Dusenbergs are really well made but you’re gonna have to take a loss if you resell it.

I’m in the same spot with my Marshall head. I keep getting offers for Mesa Boogies but Mesas are notoriously hard to sell on the used market.

They come from the same factory as Reverends so they have to be stellar. I'd trade a USA made guitar for a Duesenberg or Reverends any day.

I played one through a matchless at a friends house and the cleans were magnificent. It played nice also. Don’t have a clue as to what model I played but it was cool.

I have a star player tv and love it! Pickups are pretty low output and have a nice openness to them. Playability is good although I find the neck to be a bit chunky in the shoulders, action also has a bit of fight to it which I don’t mind. Overall it’s a bit of a rock machine, can turn its hand to anything really. Sound wise I‘d say it’s little mid scooped with fat bass and present treble. It’s built very well and that bugs by design is really stable. The only thing I didn’t like it the middle position where the pickups are out of phase with some kind of cap added. It sounds too dark for my liking although I can see what they were trying to do. I took out the cap and swapped the cables round so they’re now in phase. Don’t seem to hold their value well, they’re probably a bit too niche for that but still, a very good guitar.

To me they look cool and have Gretschy vibe. But Gretsch was a brand I always associated genres of music I appreciate but don’t play or listen to. EG- Setzer is a badass but I don’t try to get those types of tones.

But I’m a gear whore so I’d still love to have one.

super cool guitars, sound great, play well and stay in tune like ass, eventually dumped it because of that reason

I’ve only played one in a music store, but the fit and finish was absolutely top notch. It also played about as well as any guitar I’ve ever touched, And the neck shape was fantastic.

yes
played my son’s duesy in april on a trip back to cali. he asked me to sit in with his worship team and running ears through a helix LT it was very comfortable to play. i tweaked the action a bit more to my liking and voila.

sonically his gtr was clearer sounding to me than a typical Gretch or gibby es hollow.

Totally agree on the looks and the Gretschy vibe!

Think of me what you want, and as much as I love my German motos, I don't think I would get past this being made in Korea. :dunno:

Not that Korea doesn't produce some fine instruments, I tend to stay "American" built.
For A lot of years I lusted after American made guitars but couldn't afford them.
These days I can afford them...

I’m not saying they’re not made well, just that you’d really have to be sure you want one because, if you don’t like it, you’re going to be sitting on it for a long time unless you take a huge loss on it. The USA guitar will be easier to sell.

Yeah, the Doosies are big with the P&W guys. But where are his Strymons? ?

totally! i ground zeroed that whole era as a player and soundman, from mullets and boogies,

to tele or gretch into gigantic pedalboards/ac30,

to the trend to all in one pod pro xt, m13, vox valvetronix, cybertwin digital rigs. i was the first pioneer on our church block to rock the pre-strymon damage control timeline and axe ultra.
