Cool. Sure isn't much inside that thing. Sounds pretty good though.

Quote on FB is $530
Hmmmm... There are other options in that price range I'd be tempted to try first.

I'd like to see something a little different like the Clean and Crunch channel separated. Would like to try these, most clips I've heard sound pretty good.

It sounds good. But at that price, you could buy a Jet City -- which is very close to the SLO -- and have a free power section...

mine was like 550 cuz i wanted two outputs plus a tuner out too, i do not know jet city products but im very happy with the quality of this preamp, its sounds/feels great with a mullard(i63 or 61 dont remember) in v1 and chinese v2&v3 direct to my soundcard(audient) using impulses or thru the poweramp of the jvm205

thanks for watching guys

+1 sound good, but like he said, doesn't look like much in there.

The SLO preamp probably isn´t more than that once you take out the loop and the tube for it. The loop is originally between the gain staging and the tone stack, which is a weird and impractical choice but supposedly a special part of the SLO100 sound that Mike won´t change up unless you specifically ask for it. But then again, there´s no loop on the X88R.

I was looking into getting one of these before I picked up an Avenger. He has a bunch more too, including a Mesa Mark series with the GEQ, IIC+ or IV voicing, and some tone stack shift switches.

Two things that popped out at me were, wow , there is very little in there, how can that account for all of the SLO preamp? I suppose it might make sense but I don't know enough about the circuit layout. Still seems scarse to me though.

I always understood that the trannies were a huge part of the SOLDANO sound, how "much" of it though would be interesting to see. Would be interested in seeing this side by side with a real SLO to see how close it gets. Both dialed in more or less the same and through the same mic'd up cab.
