I promise that if almost any one of us was offered a chance to play as a touring musician for one of these bands and make a good paying career of it, we would love that country music haha

I've spent time in a studio in Nashville with top flight studio/touring musicians and I can tell you for a fact that they tour with big acts for the money and the money only. Those guys hated the music they were playing. They were very cynical and I could tell they didn't even like to play anymore but had to to make a living.
It was sad.
The problem with that argument is that you assume to know what "almost any one of us" would do in that situation. Money is not the point for every player.Phil Jacques":2i1yw4dx said:People can critique current country (male and female) all they want, but who is sitting at home behind a keyboard and who is making the money? As a younger man I played lead guitar in a country/rock band, whose namesake went on to a whole lot of grammy nominations, and CMA awards. Everything was great during rehearsals, and though I'm not a country player, I enjoyed it, because I was brought in for the purpose of applying my Blues based Hard rock style to covers as well as originals. The enjoyment ended at the first gig, because out came the cowboy hat and the fucking ridiculous exaggerated accent. Add to that an unrehearsed duet with an equally cheesy female vocalist(I use the term loosely) and I was seething by the time it was over. I would have never joined had I known he was going to pull that shit.I couldn't get my gear loaded fast enough. Never answered any calls from them after that. I can't concentrate on playing when the front man is doing his best to embarrass himself and the band. Saddest thing is that the crowd loved it. No amount of money is worth that to me.I don't regret walking away from that at all.

I added "shot of jack" and "two best buds" and i was amazed at how easy it was to write a hit... no wonder these guys keep turning this shit out, it's the easiest form of a hit you can make! Just give your accent a little twang and you are good to go!
