Everything about this song sucks.

I’m not a fan of the djenty style production with, who is basically a classic metal/AOR singer. Drums as usual, fatiguing software assisted, no dynamic relief and a little too much Zakk worship in the riffs. He has the gift but jury is out if he will use it anywhere as well as his idiols, that he covered so well did. I watched another vid besides this one and not getting anything melodically out of him that is memorable or catchy that sticks. It’s something that always strikes me with Dio, especially the Rainbow and Sabbath stuff. His melodic sensibilities were just fantastic. He never got too acrobatic, just very controlled, tasty lines, sung with a beautiful tone.

Im just happy seeing younger people play rock. Would never buy it but Im happy its out there. Would rather listen to Decapitated, the Melvins or Kvelertak to name a few but sometimes this kind of rock is a gateway to the heavier stuff.

Wow i thought all the hate was sarcastic and then worked out it's serious.

These guys are better musos and song writers than most guitarists and musos i know so i don't get the hate
Holdsworth was a genius and played with world class musicians and Shawn Lane was a shredding dynamo who is highly regarded and also played with amazing top tier players. I don’t want to listen to any of their music. Talent has often little to do with the actual artistic output that pleases a human.

Agree - but did Holdsworth get heap of hate too?

There's heap of music I appreciate but don't like, and wouldn't listen to.

Big step between something not being your cup of tea and proactively trashing an artist on the internet.

Not here there isn’t. If someone posts music or anything to be checked out within a community they leave it open to any and all criticism, positive or negative or neutral. It’s a discussion forum. Not a blowing smoke up each other’s asses forum. Why do you care so much? Are you in this band? 😂

Anonymous over the top negativity is lame, agreed. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. All that comes of that is fewer people willing to share their shit.

I actually thought your review of it was very good mate. Well written.

I guess I mainly use the word 'sucks' when someone clearly can't play an instrument or get close to being in key. Different definition that's all.

Yes I'm in the band,.. knew my cowbell would get mixed too low 😢 😒

It’s not like this is a clip of someone on here showing an amp or guitar. It’s a commercial band trying to make money and sell their music. The thread only exists because the OP actually hated it. I like to actually describe what I don’t like, which I did, without just a blanket “it sucks” but there’s so much crap out here right now that gets just blanket adulation and I miss good music that also sounds good. My big beef with modern rock is definitely more the way it sounds vs. the material but these bands need to know how people out in the world who might buy their stuff feel. I don’t know if you’ve ever made a record but the 2nd guessing in the studio can be off the charts in regards to approach and what to go with. Some honest negative feedback might actually help an artist when one of their many ways they could have gone with is echoed by public criticism.

Nothing wrong with that. I didn't read the whole thread, wasn't trying to single you out aside from the "it's allowed" vibe I caught from skimming your post.

I'd love to hear what you like that's somewhat recent. Damn, I'm desperate for good new guitar music and I know it's out there.

Nice! I actually love that you’re in the band…lol. Drummer?

I’ve been struggling with finding any newer bands for years. I usually have to rely on older bands coming out with new records that retain older sensibilities on production etc. Clutch always seem to bring it for me. I like the sound of the new Buckcherry but I’m very hit or miss with their singer. Metal has been a losing prospect for me in finding new stuff I like for a very long time. Last metal record I was really into was from about 2006 (Death Breath, Swedish band). I tried thinking of albums I like for music and production and started realizing they’re all from over 15 years ago, most 30 years ago. I liked Prong’s Carved Into Stone from around 2012, I think? Really love Napalm’s Enemy of The Music Business for production and songs but that’s from around 2000.

Beats the hell out of Five Finger Fist F_@k or Creed .... but the music is painfully generic .
At least in the 1980's, the era that Lalapalosers hated, had musicianship, distinction and better Melodic sensibilities.

But at least they get an B- for effort .
