Anyone still playing this amp? Which version?

I've been on an amp quest ever since 1998. I started with a Marshall Valvestate half stack and owned so many amps... all of the Line 6 from their first amp to the Helix to Bogner Ecstacy 101B, Soldano, Fender Tone Master Custom Shop, VHT Pitbull Ultralead, Carvin Legacy, Peavey 5150 I and II, Peavey JSX, Genz Benz El Diablo, Friedman Runt, Friedman JJ Jr. The list goes on and on.

A few years ago, I came across the EVH 5150 III 50 watt. I loved it, but hated the volume jump between the blue and green channels. I used a midi controller multi-effects system to change channels. I used some compression on the green channel to pump the volume up, but something was always missing.

I recently sold my Friedman's and decided to give the EVH 5150 III 50 watt with concentric knobs a shot. The concentric knobs allow you to have separate controls for the gain and volume for the blue and green channels. This has got to be the most versatile amp I've ever owned. It goes from a Fender clean to a crunchy breakup to in your face metal. I love it!!!!

The blue channel with the gain set high and the Friedman Buxom Boost just slays!!!!

I love love love it!!!

 Yup. I have the combo(2x12) with greenies. I still love it Had it since 2013 I believe. I currently use the blue mostly boosted with Horizon Devices precision drive. Use red channel with Strymon delay for leads and Green channel with strymon for cleans. I have the first version but I’m fine with it being a home player. It’s my only amp. I’ve had many of Splawns, Carvins, Peaveys, and for at home stuff these are just awesome and are super fun to play. It is versatile for sure. You can get squish, you can get tight, and every channel is usable and great.

I went over and played my buddy’s Axe 3, and still enjoy playing my rig more.

I've owned lots of nice amps... Bogner, Mesa, Friedman, Cameron, Soldano, Wizard, VHT, Diezel etc and my original 50 watt 6L6 is my favorite and my only amp now.

I bought the 50 watt stealth but sold it because I preferred the original 50 watt 6L6.

Blue channel boosted with TS9 or 808 and EQ pedal in the loop is the shit.

I am at home player however so YMMV.

I also kept mine and got rid of the others. Great sounding amp for sure and easily one of the best bang for the buck out there

I use 50W 6L6 V2, great sounding amp for sure. Sound is quite tight with fast response (specially when boosted), more of a compressed modern tone. Great amp regardless of price.

I have the original LBX, and I used to have the LBX II. Both fun little amps.

TBH, I kinda miss the II. I'm undecided about getting another or an LBX S.

Yeah, the Fender 5153 amps are great amps
I still have a 100 watt 6L6, and it hangs with my other amps.
They are one of the few modern massed produced amps I don't mind working on. The PCB's are through-hole plated and very robust, and you can do most circuit tweaks from the top of the board.
The cool thing is that all the versions are a little bit different circuit-wise, but can be adjusted to sound like the others with minimal work. (aside from running EL34's in a 6L6 version - don't do that!! )

It was mentioned up thread about loving the 2x12 combo version. The 2x12 combo had the majority of the original "stealth" circuit adjustments on board already, and is very similar to the original black 6L6 "Stealth" head. The 2x12 combo is not the original 50watt 6L6 head in combo box.
Those 2x12 combo's sound killer, but are heavy as fuk and I hate combos
All the 5153's are great value for the $$, and highly recommended

I have been liking my 6L6 a lot! Perfect amp for home use!

However, I am a little sad when I went to play it the other day it was not working right. The treble knob on the green/blue channel is not working. Not good for a 6 month old amp, but OK I guess as it will be under warranty.

I just got the EVH 5150-III EL34S about two weeks ago and love it. Sounds killer, and agree about the versatility. Just amazing.

I've had my 50 Watt 1X12 combo for awhile now, maybe 5 years. Love the amp! Last March I had a tech split out the green and blue volume/gain but since then hadn't played it much because I felt something he did introduced more treble into the amp. Now I have it with Kruse Control to make it a full stealth, fender clean, supersonic mod and fully split out green/blue for all EQ. (As well as look at what the other tech may have done) Can't wait to get it back!

I just got the 50watt Stealth. Such a great amp. I used to own the normal 6L6 50 watt and I like the more aggressive nature of the stealth. Definitely a keeper.

Happy owner of a 5153 6l6 50 watt here! Played a lot of amps at the guitar shops,(big shout-out to motor city guitar!) I wanted high gain, and it delivers?

I've had mine since new 3 years ago,non-concentric knobs..absolutely sounds amazing..especially with my MXR KFK 10 band eq and any or all of my 4 boost pedals all in the loop..it sounds better each time I play it.
I ordered the LBX 3 S and will be here in a few days, but going to order the 50 watt Stealth head any day now. my favorite amps ever.

Anyone use the Stealth models for anything other than crushing metal?

I have a 50W 6L6 Kruse modded head. Great little amp.

To the poster a few posts back - boosts in the loop? What boosts? Tube screamers etc - in the loop?

Huge 5150 III Fan here as well. I own all 3 of the 50 watt models, and love each for different reasons, even with how similar they are.

C137 mod for the win on the EL34 Blue channel, now much more usable after that as well!

Boost up front and EQ in the loop.

Would you say the EVH 5150III EL34 Is the warmer of the 3?
