EVH Custom Shop

Ouch. Pricey but the H/S hardtails look pretty sweet to me. The black one especially. For some reason I have always wanted to like Wolfie's but the narrow necks don't work for me.

Some models are comparable to Gibson, and other custom shops are more (Jackson, ESP,...)

Too bad Ibanez custom shop isn't open to non-sponsored artists. To get what I want, I went Chibanez

Those prices are ridiculous. Anyone who's an EVH disciple probably started loving VH back when Ed was playing a guitar that looked like he dragged it behind the tour bus. I thought prices were insane when his EBMM signature model came out, but those were super quality guitars and have appreciated nicely. I don't see that happening with the Fender/EVH stuff and they certainly can't be any better built than the EBMMs, other than the UV blocker in the stain.

In the beginning Eddie built his Frankenstein strat for $150 that’s all the parts and he bought a Ibanez destroyer for probably $250 and look at the sound/tone he achieved from both of those guitars
Exactly, when he endorsed Kramer it was all about great guitar for the money.

And that helped a lot of musicians get started. Now it's all about feeding Wolfie.

Talent does matter so does gear once Eddie started to use basswood( from ash wood)which started with the Ernie Ball Musicman EVH I didn’t care to much for the sound he was getting also when he went with the wet/dry/wet chorusy pitch shift I didn’t care for it.

The only VH-style guitars that are worth their current prices are the Wolfgang Standards and that Kramer Baretta reissue like the one in the No Bozos ad. The others are overpriced for what they are. For the money I'd rather build my own, get some parts from Musikraft, Warmoth, etc. and maybe send them out to a pro painter. It'd be every bit as good a guitar for a fraction of the price.

I picked up an "open box" Wolfgang Standard from Pro Audio Star for $318.

Sounds great, feels great. Swapped out the cheap bridge for a Gotoh 1996T for $99. Couldn't be happier.

Did you redrill for the Gotoh posts or just rock it with the FR ones?
