EVH Custom Shop

I got a like new chlorine burst WG standard for a song a while ago. It's a killer guitar, but I just never play it because I have so many others I like more. I need to sell it now, as I was surfing Reverb while intoxicated (SRWI) last week and snagged a Friedman DS head I need to pay for. Might be selling a few other heads too, as I just need to downsize.

I took this photo at Sweetwater back in December.

My guitar teacher when I was a kid got one of the very first ones when the bosses from Kramer were driving to all their dealers in NJ and showing off the first run. He got it for $500 then and it was stolen in a home break-in about 8-9 yrs later. But I got to play it a ton. This new one is not cheap, but it oozes quality and the headstock shape is spot on. I think it's a tad heavier than the original. I will snag one of these when the right used one comes along.

Anything with Edward Van Halen’s name on it gear wise turns to gold it’s a money machine

Eddie is rolling in his grave. He was always about moderate cost for musicians with his line. Too bad.

In the beginning Eddie didn’t like people copying his stripped strat like Wayne charnel/ Grover Jackson so he put a stop to that now look

Totally agree, his music philanthropy was completely evident.

Did you see all those Peavey Wolfgangs he gave to schools.

He was all about spreading the joy of guitar, more money came in a distant second.

I picked up an "open box" Wolfgang Standard from Pro Audio Star for $318.

Sounds great, feels great. Swapped out the cheap bridge for a Gotoh 1996T for $99. Couldn't be happier.

After you installed the Gotoh 1996T:

1. Is the tuning stability better?
2. Did the sound change?
3. Sustain: more, same or less?
4. How's the playability?

the recent evh anything i’ve played off the GC wall from hockey stick kramer to wolfgang to striped are really lousy in the hand.

It's bit brighter and little more articulate on chord notes.

The Chinese floyd sat perfectly flat on the body where as the Gotoh had to be pitched back a little.

The cheap chinese bridge seems to fit the guitar fiscally and sound wise better but I didn't want to deal withe the crappy saddles. The darker sound fit the pickups better IMO.

Maybe a better option would be to just upgrade the saddles, if you don't use the whammy bar too often.
