How did he use it? I just got one and I literally never paid attention to how he used one… loop or out front? Is there a sweet spot on it? Thanks….
I'm thinking he ran most everything out front (at least in the early days) as his amps did not have loops.Supposedly he ran it out front, that’s where I run mine. On my board, it’s right after the tuner, before the dirt pedals.
It’s my favorite phaser, I like the more subtle setting, from the push button.
EVH ran his in front of the amp, I run mine before any boost pedal
In front.. That's one pedal I always felt sounded like shit in the loop, (or atleast didn't sound "right"). I always ran in front, and I think the majority does as well. How did he use it? I run the phase 90 first in my signal chain. Here it is. Only picture I have at the moment….

#1 amp? - Marshall Superlead, guitar - Charvel Custom ShopYou should know
How you been Al? What is your #1 these days?
Bro I never even tried it out other than to see it powered on. I boxed it up and sent it to another Rigtalk homie. Shipped it out today….Let me know what that Badass Distortion sounds like. I've been curious to try one in my clean channel for a second dirt/lead channel
You know that is not a bad overdrive at all. Wayne’s screamer hits the front end harder and it’s quieter but the Mxr gets a lot hairier when you crank the gain knob. Wayne should do one. It’s pretty nice imoI run the phase 90 first in my signal chain.
Also, I understand that the classic overdrive is the same as the Zakk Wylde overdrive. There is a switch inside that cuts mids for the Zakk version.
Yeah, the Classic is a GT-OD re-housed for Musician's Friend/GC. I already have a Wylde OD, but I use the GT-OD for my Tubescreamer variant. It works great with anything 6L6. It's crunchier and fatter than a TS9.You know that is not a bad overdrive at all.
