Famous tracks/albums recorded with a 5150

Honestly, probably the majority of big-name metal bands in the last two decades have used the 5150 at some point.

Satriani used them on the Extremist album, along with Marshalls and Soldanos.

Don't forget Van Halen, Right Here Right Now (Live discs). They sounded killer on there.

Steve Stevens also used them on "Scream" off of one of the recent Billy Idol CDs.

Satriani used a 5150? I sure can't tell by listening to the record...

A few not mentioned yet:

Black Stone Cherry
Brand New Sin

My two favorite little known 5150 bands. Black Stone Cherry has a very un-traditional 5150 tone which is cool to hear. ALL the dirty sounds on their new album were done with 5150s and XXX's. Another great unique 5150 tone is Grand Magus.

Yep, I have a Guitar World article talking about it. I don't know what he used it on, but he said it was used here and there.

This, Pagey mixed SLO and 5150:

Well, he says that Scream was "mostly" the Suhr amp so he may have used the 5150 on it for some parts. He was using dual amp rigs back then, and I seem to remember reading something about a 5150 on one side and the OD100 on the other. I'll actually ask him tomorrow when I see him.

He used it on that as well. In fact, you can see it in the 'making of' DVD that was out for that record.

did fear factory ever use them?
I dont think so. It was rumored that Dino might have used one some to mix with other amps for the Divine Heresy albums, but I have never heard anything about FF, or Brujeria, or Asseno.

Go to Amazon and click on Music, then Metal. There you have it.

This is a funny one, Trivium, despite being endoursed by both Mesa and Marshall, used 5150s and XXXs and were never endoursed by Peavey until about 2008.

Fun fact. Shit band.

Well we know Steve used them for sure.
