The bones I had was a metal machine but my fortin modded vtm120 smokes the bones in everyway.
I cant believe that one went up for sale. If its the one from Bubbastain, I thought he was going to be buried with that one.

If the Evil Pumpkin would change my right hand to match that of Jason's, I would buy two of them. I gotta say though as much shit as Fortin gets on here, I would love to have a Cali. I would also like to have an EP but I'm pretty much in love with the Atla and if I was going to buy another Marshall flavored amp I would go with Ground Zero or another Monomyth(honestly I would like to have one from each of those guys).

Many of Fortin's Marshall mods sound great. No hate from me on that front. But some of the other stuff... well the info's out there already.

As far as the Cali goes, it does sound good. Nice blend of options with the Aldrich/Jose combo. But I didn't personally vibe with the amp much. Too many switchs/dials. Too many options for me. I spend more time fucking with the settings vs playing. And it was hard to get a really perfect sound out of it because of the options. The jose side of the amp, compared with a Jose you can build yourself... meh. I prefer a stripped down, simple 800 with Jose mod. The Aldrich side... it did sound good, but something about it was just off for me. Everyone's got an opinion.

I have a cali mod that Mike did.
The amp is a metro 50 watt plexi I put together and sent to Mike for the mod. It sounds great and was done before he started offering all the various options.

How do switch between Jose and Aldrich? I have the Neural DSP plugin of the Cali but know nothing about the circuit

I'm not 100% positive because I didn't really look at the circuit in great detail, but if memory is correct it's switchable between 3 gain stages + diodes and 4 gain stages (violence switch is the 4th gain stage). 3 preamp tubes with 4 gain stages means no cathode follower. Tone stack is plate driven. That's what the basis for the Aldrich mod is. With the 4th stage switched off, it's essentially a Jose mod (JCM800 circuit with diodes), same as the Meshuggah. Same as any other Jose mod circuit out there from Friedman, Cameron, Gower, Ceriatone, and so on. Sure, the amp had all the other switches for thump (depth caps), hair (presence caps), pull/sat (diodes), bright (bright cap), etc. But you can put those on any amp. And I never looked too closely at the values of most of the components, so it could have been voiced differently. But the circuit topology of the amp is essentially a Jose + Aldrich mod combo.

Everybody has their own version of each of these mods. How they voice the amp, other little things they add here or there, differ. But the idea for each of them has the same circuit topology in common.

It's a good hybrid of the two designs.

Yeah Killertone. Honestly there is a very small number of people who post vids that I will watch no matter what they are demoing. Jason definitely falls in that group. I'm a huge fan of his riffing I forget how good he is on leads.

I think I have 4 people I subscribe to on YouTube that bring out the fanboy in me vs my typical hater self.
