Just curious what people like. For a 2x12, I'm going to try a V30/CBH75 in my Friedman. For 4x12 I'm not liking the GB/V30s in my Friedman. I'm beginning to wonder of somethings up with the GB's in there; I did buy it used.

But I'm thinking to try V30s bottom / CB75 or CB65's on top.

Cheers.

I like Greenbacks and V30s, but we rarely ever had more than a single mic on a cab at any given venue. So, I felt like I'd dial it in for a sound I liked, but then have a mic picking up only half of what I'm hearing. For that reason I swapped back to speakers of the same type per cab for peace of mind. Probably just paranoia on my part, but it is what it is...

I'm a thrash metal and hardcore player. My favorite speaker combo for a 4x12 is V30 on the bottom, K100 on top. I have this combo in 2 separate cabs, and IMO, it's the best of both speakers that get highlighted. Very tight, good headroom, the sometimes harsh midrange is now on the bottom and doesn't hit the ears as directly. The clarity of the k100 is projected up top and gives a little smoother sound closer to the ear.

It's a bright but effective combo, especially when tuned down a bit

I’ve been thinking of mixing v30’s in my k100 cab. I was thinking of doing exactly what you said.
I’ve been contemplating x pattern, or top/bottom. Glad you commented on this. Makes good sense.

I'm a Hardcore Guitar Player(Madball, Terror, Agnostic Front) & I'm using a Marshall 1960BHW with the Stock G12H30's

That's how I think as well  . I ran V30 x G12T75 in a cab for a while that sounded killer in the room with most amps I ran through it, but I always wondered if I was giving up something when it was mic'd up for a gig. But yeah, definitely consider the V30x75 combo as well.

I'm runing a pair of Relic 30's alongside a pair of H-75 Creambacks in my Marshall cab. :)

V30s on top and Altec 4178H on the bottom in a few 4x12s. Really digging that combo.

I am about to try creamback 65's and V30's in an X in my SPlawn 4x12.

What kind of tones are you going for ? I had that combination in my Splawn 4x12 and it sounded pretty cool but I eventually settled on Creamback H75s and M65s in an X pattern

I love my Splawn 2x12 cab with 65 creambacks but I'm hoping to get a KSR cab with Creamback 75's. Apparently there is enough difference between the two that they will complement each other. I'm not a fan of V30's anymore.

What about a Redback mixed in a 2x12? I’ve got one of those, too.

K85's or K100's with V30s for me. I have that combination in two cabs.

Also i like V30's and greenbacks a lot too though.

Playing a G12K-100 loaded 2x12 that sits atop a Heritage loaded EVH 412 and it's a nice combination.

I have V30’s mixed with Eminence D12V8 speakers (similar to their Legend V128) in my 4x12 and I’ve been very happy with them for a long time. I also have a 2x12 that I’m running a Swamp Thang / Texas Heat combo that works very well.

I have 2 Redbacks on the bottom of VHT FB, Mesa V30 on top. I highly recommended to try Redbacks. They’re very even sounding right out the box. H75 character without agressive top-end.

Hmmm... Ok, maybe I’ll do a V30/Redback combo in my Friedman 2x12.

Perhaps a H75/Redback combo too. But don’t wanna lose that V30 cut for live playing.

I would be worried 2 x GK100s wouldn't see enough wattage when paired with 2 x V30s and not get pushed enough and sound too stiff/bland as a result. (?)

After many trials, I'm generally not a fan of mixing speakers. But if I do, they need to with similar voiced speakers. Not one's with opposing freq qualities or "complimentary" speakers.

I've been running scumback j75 top, uk made V30 bottom in orange ppc412 with great results whether I'm tuned to standard or drop B. (fryette deliverance 60)
I had tried to force myself to like the x pattern but I hate the way it projects sound, you take a step to the side and it sounds vastly different. Top/Bottom was the way to go for me.

The J75s have done exactly what I wanted them to do - remove the harshness of the V30 and tame it down a bit.
