One of my favorites is Pelican's drought. That tone is probably one of my favorites. Also love love love Electric Wizards Funeralopolis we hate you especially, Bongripper's Satan worshipping Doom.

Also I saw Baroness at a small club a few weeks ago and it was fantastic. It changed my opinion on what can be done with single coils, fenders and roland jazz chorus.

Oh and Buzzoven's Kakkila. I love Buzzoven and miss seeing them. Kirk is bi polar among other things and I doubt we will ever get anything new from him. I talked to him a year ago about what they used for their guitar tone then he dropped off the planet. I am friends with him on Facebook and he lives about 20 minutes away from me. I always wanted to jam with him but that's probably a bad idea.

+1. I have seen Baroness 4 or 5 times. Most recently at the beginning of their current tour. Great show! Gina killed it too.

Yeah she is so bad ass. I was totally geeking out. Here is a pic before the show. The place only held like 100 people.

My favorite stoner tune came from a band that was about 5 years too late for the 80s metal, The Scream. Bruce Boulliet and John Corabi. Most know their first album (which is awesome) but their second release (Takin it to the Next Level) was great too. John Corabi didn't sing on this release. Complete shift in style but great nonetheless. This song is up there for me in regards to a stoner type of tune.

They're referring to a different type of stoner 😁

These guys are pretty underrated, though a little hard to pin down genre-wise. When they brought the heavies, however, I think they fit pretty nicely into the stoner metal vein. Their album, Metridium Fields, is definitely worth a listen.

For sure, Gina's got game! I caught them for the first time a couple weeks ago in the STL, they must have played close to 23 songs. Well worth the price of admission! Cold Blooded Angel and I'd Do Anything on acoustic was a nice surprise as well.

There's some good shit in here, kept my ear holes full of smokey goodness all day. I'm properly inspired now.

By the way, has anybody gotten good sounds out of a fuzz pedal with EMGs? Sounds like ass every time I try, I'm sure the pedals are meant to work with passive pickups.
Man, I have tried many a fuzz with actives and almost all sounded like many a butthole. I have had some success with the Boss FZ-2 (or Behringer SF300 if ya don't feel like like getting reamed w/o lube on the used price of the FZ-2). Maybe it's because the Boss is buffered that it works out well? I think all my other fuzzes are true bypass, IDK, I am no expert. Just don't expect to get that whole "cleans up with the volume knob" thing that the tan pants society cream themselves over.
