Can't be to many of them but I might get one..

So what is it then? Is it always Hard Bypass and then you step on it and it mutes the signal to the Amp while you Tune??

I have the old big ugly peterson...works great. I always run mine hard bypass like you mention and it mutes the signal.

On another bypass note, I think you can also chose between true bypass and buffer. I think I just left on TB, though a buffer is good too, but I'm more of a "if is does it's job, I don't mess with it" kinda guy...it is a tuner afterall haha.

I went with a Polytune 3 Mini in the front before my Fractal FX8. I use it mainly as an always ON tuner with buffer.. works great, it's small and bright.

I have a PolyTune 3 mini, Strobostomp (old blue one), Strobostomp mini, TurboTuner ST300 mini and a handful of others. I like the Petersons the best. Every one of those has its own little quirks that isn't quite perfect, though. Apparently making the perfect tuner pedal is hard :V

Original Polytune is great.

I love the EBMM volume/tuner combo pedal as well.

Peterson makes great shit too

I also like the polytune 3 mini; it's a little faster, more accurate, and easy to read than the boss tu2/3.

I heard these things do really poor things to your tone, even worse than clip-on tuners, they say.
So I just turn off my modulation pedals and let the leftover warbles guide me.

A Hard Bypass Switch should take it completely out of the Chain.. It also has a Buffer to drive your signal if you select it..

My Shure GLXD 16 wireless built In tuner.

Bwst of both worlds. Been using it the past 10+ years, never failed.

It says there's like 100 turnings.. What the hell are they talking about??
Do I call up 7-String at 440 and it's different than a 6 string??

I think it means more like it’s free range. I’ve tuned a 9 string with it to all sorts of random shit just by tuning one string to “a note” and then going from there if that makes sense.
There’s nothing to call up on the pedal as far as I know but I could be wrong cause I’m old and crotchety 😂

For live gigs I used a Boss TU-2 for years, but I started playing several outdoor gigs and I realized the TU-2 was invisible in direct sunlight. I used to invent ways to try to block the sunlight from reaching my pedals but that looked dumb.

Next I tried the Peterson StroboStomp. It was so sensitive that it took too long to find the note and that did not work live where we move quickly from one song to the next--and it was not much better than the TU-2 in direct sunlight.

Next I tried a TC Electronic Polytune 3 Noir and that worked great -- even in direct sunlight. It's small and accurate and has not left my board since I first tried it.

For studio work, I use the D'Addario D'Tune app or StroboSoft app on my phone.
