I've had pretty good luck receiving items with UPS. My driver has been on this route for a few years so he knows I get guitars etc. that can't get thrown around.
when I ship I pack like it's going into a war zone.

I had two really good UPS drivers over the last several years, IDK if they took different routes, got promoted or left; last couple years has been a crap shoot with UPS, FedEx and USPS competing to be the worst delivery option in the area.

It’s also nuts when some dipshit gets your package and decides to keep it and execute a hostile takeover.
When I was in the military my friend was telling me he kept calling about his household goods and they were like "nope, hasn't arrived yet", when he knew it should have arrived. So he went over to talk to someone and he sees some of his stuff out. The movers took some of his stuff out and were using it as a break area. There were all of these guys sitting on his couch, smoking, had a lamp, the whole 9 yards. He was pissed.

UPS left an 8 foot roll of carpet on my porch with an address label for a girl in DC. I'm in PA. I called and they told me to make an account and go online and fill out a bunch of forms. No, how bout you come pick it up? Sat there for two weeks. I called Crate and Barrel where it came from and they said they would send a call tag and UPS would pick it up. Sat another week. Called Crate and Barrel back. They said they had no record of the order. I looked it up and it was an $800 carpet.
I said fuck em all and sold it on FB marketplace in about 3 days. To bad it was a carpet and not a baddass amp or guitar.

Most of my stuff comes Fed Ex ground and the guy that delivers, stands on our front lawn about 15 feet from our porch and lobs the package on my porch like he is shooting free throws. I have him on camera, I am thinking of finding who this douches boss is and pitching a bitch.

I gotta say.....@*velcro fly* packs them for a war zone. If you ever have him ship you a purchase/trade, it will arrive relatively unscathed;

The past couple of years I've experienced no consistency in USPS, UPS, FedX.

For me it's been the toss of the dice.

Here's the last amp UPS delivered to me. A new Mesa MKVII. Fortunately, the dealer was 15mi across town and immediately replaced it. But I drove to pick it up in person. No questions asked. They were super nice about it and even gave me a free quad of Mesa branded 6L6's. I politely told them I understand $hit happens and they really didn't need to give me the free tubes. But, they insisted so I took them.

I'm understanding why ebay and reverb have so many "local pickup only" ads anymore. I doubt I'll ever ship any amps again myself.
