Suhr Pro Series S4 with CURLED Maple Top, done. Should be getting in the next 4 to 5 days... Thanks for all your help regarding Fender versus Vigier versus Suhr versus rosewood versus maple versus YADA YADA YADA...!! :D

I just wanted something to fart around on, with a maple fingerboard. I think this'll do the trick

Voted for Fender. I played a few Suhrs, and for what I was looking for, the AM Deluxe just did it better.

It seems like Fender doesn't file down their fret edges for shit. Every time I've looked at any in GC I'll run my hand down the side of the neck and they're sharp enough to potentially lay someone open :gethim: I do own a Strat (with properly filed frets) but will probably never buy another Fender

Suhr by a long shot. Only because they put more heart and soul into
they're guitars, can't get that from fender unless it's a master built.
Even then I'm almost positive Suhr would still win.
IMO Fenders are kinda plain, same old re-hashed body, paint and bursts.
And let's face it,the "Modern" has an awsome body.
I think Suhr would win most polls, except Anderson.

And what about GC? Seems over the years, they are no longer in the service industry either. Most (not all) of the sales people there are a bunch of posers, sporting tats and acting like the shit until you ask a question of them and they act like ya just asked them for a free handjob. I finally quit going there, aside from a few nice acoustic guitars, and some decent sound reinforcement equipment, I do most of my shopping here on Rig-Talk.

Suhr, Anderson, Tyler, Melencon, McNaught, make great guitars. You just have to find which one's work for you the best.

Yo Cats...

There's something that has always been a 'grrrrrrrrrr' with me and Fender strats. Don't know what it is - I wanted the jangle and the sparkle, but I can't play 'em. I'm going to try this Suhr out and see if it's got what I need. Otherwise, ya sure, I'll pony up to an Anderson or something like that - but the brass tax is, I didn't want to blow $4000+ on another ax, I've already got too much vested in gear - so I thought the Suhr Pro S4 might be a blend of all the worlds I'm seeking. I'll let you know if I'm wrong. I may have to dump some other pups in it (Thanks Dallas!!), but other than that - it's got the wood, the SS frets, seems nice, so might as well make it my project guitar.... I was going to gut my ESP-FRII with new pups and wiring, but the EMG's are in there and it's a tough guitar to blow apart for project purposes (read: it's a damn fine ax as is, even though it's cheaper than a Suhr S4, it's still just a beautiful instrument, and the EMG's always make me realize what NOISELESS pups are!!).

Call me nuts, I wanted a twanger and a banger, so we'll see how this new ax pans out.

Peace,
V.
