Fish and M4

whenever I do a video of an amp, its just to show the features and give u an idea of what it sounds like. That is why I only use one mic and no post eq or other processing. Remember, u are listening to an amp demo through computer speakers. You are not in the room listening to the actual rig. Im sure I could add 3 mics and add all kinds of stuff to make it sound incredible, but that really wouldnt be fair to my clients.

I am blown away buy the Modules and am gonna add one to compliment my fish rig.

For the record, I didn't say anything about your vids. I think they are great.

I'm saying, A/B'ed through a 2290 and 2150, the Egnater M4 wins the contest in the room with my ears.

Thanks for the heads-up Gene
I really value your input on this - especially as you have a lot of gear to compare

Since getting my M4 I am really happy and would rather just have new modules to install rather than chasing after complete new preamps

I vote for a new Eggie module (or two)
Maybe a have a Piscies module - 2 channels=2 fish

In the meantime I want to buy the 4 modules that I don't already have, and a second M4 if I can link them together

The Pisces module? That's awesome!!!!

I'll let Jeff and Bruce use the name if they make a module for free :D

Way to put me on the spot

I cant say which is better or worse. And when it come to amps of this calibre its really about what suits your needs. The M4 is so versatile with 8 channels and fully midi and you cant beat the price. When I got the pricing from Jeff, I had to shake my head at how affordable the M4 is. However, Ive been playing Bogner for about 15 years and its the Bogner voicing that I love. Cranking the Fish brown channel thru a VHT 2150 is my tone and thats why Im gonna have both in my rig

Tell you something funny ... I just sold my Groove Tubes Trio ... tonight I plugged it in to make sure it was okay before packing it up.

Damn, it sounded good. I started to think ... maybe I want to keep it. So I plugged it in right next to the M4 (same power amp and speakers), and it took me about three minutes to match all three channels -- Clean = T/D -- Mean = Bman -- Scream = SL2, probably other modules like the EG-5 can get that tone.

Off it goes!

Love it - that is my philosophy now
I used to crave to own loads of different preamps

Now I would rather have modules that nail the tones of those "other" amps/preamps and just use my Eggie

Yeah, that makes sense. I mean, when you get to amps of this caliber, they will all be built well and sound fantastic. Its really the nuances of sound and feel for each that sets them apart. And thats neither good or bad, its just whichever is right for the player.

I think a modular Egnater could win a Pepsi Challenge against any amp, any day.

I know it's politically correct to say, "at this caliber, it's just preference", but I think if you did an experiment with a large enough sample of non-players just hearing the amps, Egnater would run away with it.

Even my 59 y/o, non-guitar-playing Mom was like, "wow, that new Egnater preamp (IE4 in this case) makes your Bradshaw preamp sound weird and fuzzy." I guess I did genetically inherit her ears though, so it's not really a fair test.
