Folkesson Mods?

Hi

Here in sweden were I live,

there is this bloke who mods amps to make em sound better. I've heard he is very skilled but I'd like to know more about how they sound.

So have anyone heard of him?

Anything?

Tommy Folkesson is my favorite amp modder next to Mark Cameron.
If you ever heard shotgun Messiahs second comming album, you have heard Tommy's work. He does some very unique things with his mods.

Id own a few of his Marshalls if he would ship them to the USA but unfortunetly he doesn't like doing that.
I called him direct and he pretty much told me no, he would not ship to the USA!
 
Tommy's mods sound awesome!! Harry Cody's tone on Second Coming is in my top 3 guitar tones of all time, and his playing isnt bad either :D

I will probably own a Folkesson modded Marshall someday!
 
But how do they sound like? I've seen that video but from what I understand that marshall is not very modded compared to his other mods such as a class A mod.

How much gain does his modded marshall have? what kind of tones? Im more of a dark high gain bloke so I'm afraid marshalls maybe won't be what I'm after.

Anyone played one in person?

Im deciding between some folkesson modded marshall or a elmwood modena.

Tommy's main mod gets its distortion from the poweramp section mostly. He rigs the amp up where it has a built in slave. In other words you crank the amp and it gets re-amp so that you can get power tube distortion at managable volumes. Tommy's amps have some gain but it isn't saturated like most of the high gainers. Ive never played a Folkesson amp but I heard a few live and on record and they sounded killer.
That said, if you are looking for a high gain beast then the Elmwood would probably be a better choice.
 
So basically, if your after high gain a modded folkesson might not be it?

Or do you mean it's more like dry sounding such as a VHT?

I have a 74 JMP modded by Tommy. It has a lot of gain but as gain freak said not that compressed. It is also pretty bright. Not alot of low end which is typical of a stock JMP.

The Second Comming is one of my favorates, love Harry's playing . That is why I bought this head.

But if you like bright dry high gain it might be something?

Where the heck did you get that amp? I spoke to Tommy on the Phone and he would not ship me one!! He said it was to much of a pain in the ass to ship to the USA!

If you like more of the upper mids modded marshall sound and it sounds like the amp is almost going to explode then you would dig the Folkesson. If you are looking for saturated high gain where the distortion comes more from the preamp section then there are better amps suited for that. Id gather the Elmwood is the way to go!! :rock:

I was thinking about that but Id need a ton of money for the mods then double shipping. Tommy would have to ship it to them and then they would have to ship it to me. Right now I don't have two nickels to rub together!! Christmas killed me lol :D

Picked it up on Ebay awhile back.
It's pretty cool. Has Three channels and a loop.
I'll try and post a pic of it tonight.

I may be selling it if your interested!!!!

Not sure just yet.
I a have been spending money like water on my new business and I have to move some gear to pay some bills.

I'll post some pics of it tonight and try to figure out an asking price.
