As it now stands – trans students at Perkiomen Valley High School may now use the bathrooms and locker rooms of their choice.
Female students said matter-of-factly that they don’t want transgender boys in their bathrooms or locker rooms.
“This is about protecting our children and our privacy and boys and girls. It’s simple biology,” parent Stephanie Ott told Fox News.
Student Brandon Emery told Fox News the district has not explained how they plan to enact the policy, but students feel as if their voices are not being heard.
“There needs to be some changes. It’s just uncomfortable seeing, 19-year-old men or 18-year-old men in the bathroom,” she said. “The safety of females is so important and these students that stood out that walked out, they are to be commended. They have courage and they exercise their First Amendment rights. This is about protecting our children and our privacy and boys and girls. It’s simple biology.”
The Moms For Liberty chapter in Montgomery County praised the teenagers for their courage.
“We commend their bravery to stand up for their friends & fellow classmates in order to protect women’s rights and keep bathrooms a safe place for our girls,” the group wrote on its Facebook page.
