We only had about 80% here but approximately 7 years ago we had a total eclipse and that was quite spectacular. We went up to a park called Lake Winfield-Scott here in the Southern Appalachians and it was not crowded or anything. Shadows looked weird, especially of tree canopies and during the totality nature went quiet and then crickets started chirping, very surreal.
My kids still thought it was cool to see what we could see this time. I thought it was clever to play “Black Sun” by Dead Can Dance on my garage stereo but now my vietnam vet neighbor thinks I’m a weirdo.
