....I picked up a used Randall Recto module....the pre-Treadplate version. Before I get my ass kicked for buying a Randall module, here is my thought process: I don't use the recto tone that much, but when I want to use it, I need it. So, I was reluctant to pop $400 for the E/Rect, even though I know it is a superior module to the Randall. I figured for a little over $100, I get the Randall for no more than I will probably use it, its a good deal, and it is one of the original batch, so it's still technically an Eggie!

I figure if I end up using the recto tone more than I think I will, I will sell of the Randall and buy a proper E/Rect.

We'll see......

It's not a sin..if not for Randall, I never would have heard of Egnater .. or at least it would have taken me more years.

There are only about 4 production modules around that I have not owned at some point now :D

My current collection is 14....6 Egnater, 8 Randall. The Randalls offer tones that the Egnaters do not and vice-versa!

For what it's worth...I tend to prefer the Grail for it's slightly agressive edge over the E'Rect.

Modules...gotta catch 'em all.

Thanks. I have heard of a mod on the Randall high gain modules, including the Recto, to replace a 472uF cap with a smaller value, like 22uF or even 1uF. I was thinking of doing this to the one I just picked up. have you had any experience with that mod? (I think the bass toggle switch on the proper Eggies does the same thing)

Yes and correct.....the value you want is 0.001uF, stock used to be the 47 and then I think they moved to the 22 (Treadplate?)

Check the resistor in R1 too..it should be 150...the stocks were 220 or 470 or something higher.

The Bass and Bright functionality on the Egnater modules is awesome...but I so rarely use them in anything but '0'...I have a couple of 'dark' guitars that I use Bright for but very rarely anything that sounds so thin I want to move Bass to '1' let alone '2' :D

Ha ha! My kids are heavily into pokemon right now and that same thought entered my head a few days ago since I have been planning out which MOD to buy next.

I LOVE the Randall modules that I have; stock modules that I cherish and behold are Mr. Scary,1086,UltraXL. I got Dave Friedman from Rack systems to apply his magic to Treadplate, XTC, SL+ and UltraLead. All turned out wonderfully but the SL+ is pure magic now......

EG5 now has a special place for me too.....

Gotta catch 'em all!

Oh yeah... you are forgiven my son......

Sorry about this...........its ALL EGNATER for me!! Done the randall stuff.......sold it all..........
FOUND THE ERRORS OF MY WAY........
Mod 50.......all Egnater Mods..........

BUY AN EGNATER.........Dont look back!

1000 Hail mary's
All is forgiven...........

Latest GAS.... E2 with COD+ .... need to decide on a second module :D

You know it baby.....oh and a Rebel for my room :D

I'm feeling maybe the E2 with the COD+ and the elusive new Ty Gretchen model......!!!

Oh, and of course the Rebel is just a given...... I also have at least two buddies that will buy a Rebel the minute they get to the local GC.

Yeah, so here's the problem with this whole thing. My M4 is already full with Eggie mods (SL, VX, T/D and EG3/4), so now I have this 5th module that has no permanent home....I guess maybe this is my subconcious justification for buying an E2!! Of course, then I'll have 5 modules and 6 slots. Hmmmm....damn....it just never ends!

We'll see how the Recto plays out. Like a said...for a bit over a C note, it's a good deal. But like I said, if I find myself going for the rectumfire tone more often, I prolly will sell the Recto and buy the E/Rect.

Thanks. Definitely going to try out those mods. Certainly can't hurt anything

I love the Randall modules, no shame in that ... they rock. The JTM was one of my favorites, Plexi and XTC are way cool.

Nothing wrong with the Randall modules.....my Ultra XL kicks all kinds of ass.....

+1 on the Randall modules! There is no need for any "module snobbery", they are all good in their own. I have 13 modules now, 9 of which are Randall and 4 Eggies. Eight of the nine Randalls have been modified by Pete Turley (okstrat on the Randall boards) and they are AMAZING! Stock they were just okay. Pete's ear for tweaking is out of this world, plus he spends time playing and using the modules before sending them back. If he hears something he doesn't like, he works on it some more until it is up to his standards. I love my Eggie modules, but the one's Pete has worked on are out of this world good. I think if my Eggies as different colors to paint with.

Hey, great to hear some love for the Randalls. Guess I just assumed there would be more negativity toward that stuff on this board. Feeling better about my decision. Other thing was that I want another Eggie module - prolly COD+ or maybe EG5, so the money I saved going with the used Recto vs. E/Rect will come in handy to fund that purchase!!! It's like back in college when, instead of buying real food, you would surive on Raman noodles so that you would have more money to buy beer. :D

Isnt there a Randall forum where you guys can take this dreck so you can stop polluting OUR board? :D

It's not the popular vote that matters - it's the Superdelegates!
