Were those settings fighting you much on the solos?

The settings on the amp weren't the problem, dropping my guitar to Eb was the issue. Even with 10's it felt like rubber bands and the action was already low. You can hear a bit of 'pong' on my D string when i play the part of Somebody Get Me A Doctor.

Also, i had the gain switch under the master set to the right and both bright switches to the left. I think if i cranked the amp it would sound a lot better with the same settings.

YESSSS!!! Go piss off the neighbors and report back!!!

Thanks guys. Something i just thought of, there's been only 2 amps I've owned that i really really liked and felt like i totally bonded with. The Fortin is one, the other was my old Mesa IIC+. The Boogie was made in 1984 and my Cali mod is a JCM800 Superbass and it's pretty old, not sure what year. I've plenty of new amps and I'd take the old one's over any of the new stuff i played. I kinda liked the Diezel Herbert though as far as new amps, Bogners...no thanks. VHT's are cool but a bit stiff for me.

I'm shopping for a 2nd amp or whatever. And my efforts to acquire an Axe-Fx have been thwarted by an unseen force in the Universe that just doesn't want me to own one, i swear it's unbelievable. I went to buy a new one a few days ago on the Fractal Website and they were sold out. Someone tried to scam me out of one since June 22nd. And they're available right now on the Fractal Site and i was ALL set to order one and i just remembered that i paid a large bill yesterday and I'm short now on cash. I get paid tomorrow but OF COURSE i know they will be sold out when i go to buy one.

Sounds great Dan! How would you describe the sound of the Cali after bonding with it for a while? I know you dig the 80's tones, but apart from that? Do you know if he still mods amps? Sorry, I've been out of the loop for a while!

Why not a Marsha? An SLO or an XTC would be a safe bet. If you decide they don't work for you you could flip them pretty fast.

Marsha = $3000 when i have those tones covered with the Cali, IMHO. SLO...no way, those amps need to be LOUD. XTC...already owned one and didn't like it that much. I also picked up a Boogie 2:90 for pretty cheap so I'd like to get either an Axe of some sort of preamp.

It's pretty flexible so i could see other guys dialing it in different. I could get a lot more gain and scoop it for a more metal tone if i wanted, and i think i could get it to sound close to that Boogie Mark series tone as well. I'm not sure if Mike is modding since he is focusing on his own amps, Bones, Meathead and Natas. Friedman can mod for you though. I'm borrowing an amp from Danhops that has some Friedman mods and i like it a lot.

Cool...I'm not really looking for scooped anyway. I'm just looking for a thick, huge, Marshall type of tone. Thick, organic. I'm liking my mids as of late. Something for this type of music:

Forgot you owned an XTC lol. Yeah man the Axe FX may be the ticket.

Why not pick up a IIC+ as a 2nd amp ?

I like the older stuff better myself most of the time.

I think I'll have to stick with the plan and give the Axe-Fx a try. If i don't i know I'll always be curious about it.

Damn dude! I listened to the whole thing and wanted more!

That sounded kick ass!
