yeah I could care less. It doesn't;t seem to make an amp "less good". As mentioned, Boogie, Diezel, etc use them.

I think it's more to the point, of where most of the amp is made then it's shipped to England, where the final assembly happens. So it then can be labeled "Made in England".

Funny Ironic story...I heard this a few yrs back. I was talking to another member here, and he was telling me that a builder was visiting China and while he was there, he noticed at the factory where the amps he represented were being built, he noticed some Friedman boards being populated. No I won't out the RTer who told me...but the builder who told him?

Mr Mike Fortin. He was there with Randall inspecting the factory. Who knows if this is really true? Maybe Mr Fortin planted a seed in hopes it would spread through RT and it was false?

But, how ironic that a few yrs later here he is, possibly using the same factory as Randall for his own Chinese amp.

So why Larry is so upset about this now is kind of hard for me to understand knowing that your ish can be reverse engineered and you have no patents.

Having patented my ingenious circuits would have made the situation still worse, since then all the documents are publicly and everybody can see your schems and read your descriptions on the web page of the patent office, can simply download it w/o the need of first purchasing 2 amps from me, to re-engineer it.

The only "Fortin" product I have owned was a Thrasher that was built in China and cheap but sounded good. You have. They are in quite a few modern amps as well.

Not to say that it would effect the tone, but i'm more worried about the possible maintenance and costs related to that.

I think even that those cheap Blackstar HTs sound really good, but they're most likely not that pretty inside.

I do have a lot of experience with chinese amp manufacturers.

Back in 2008 I've "refined" layout & lead dress of the so called "Golden Tone" amps from China.
A customer of mine who's driving a big studio also is a big importer of chinese music gear.

He's ordered 3 different amp models from them, but none has been working properly.
Shitty lead dress, bad assembled boards, the alignment, components next to dangerous ones, aso
Oscillating, weak sound...

So he had me, to make a few prototypes of them "right" and to write extensive reports and build instructions for the Chinese, to ensure that in future they're producing flawlessly.

This all I've also discussed with Mike and he's been extremely interested on this, has requested almost every photo of my refining of these amps, to see how the supplement on the boards and the lead dress has to be properly, aso.
