I can say that the models are a bit better then any line 6 i have heard, they sit MUCH better in a mix, not to mention most clips that are out there are not mixed very well to begin with, so the clips where someone knows what they are doing, to me, sound a heck of a lot better then modelers out there. they seem to sit in the mix a bit better. And with good recording techniques, they stack much better.
Being a composer, I love the quickness and recall of using modelers, it just makes my job quick and fast, and get usable results. So, these have their place, and the axe fx is a cut above the alternative.
I think it was Bob Clearmountain who said he HATES when he gets tracks from a pod, they just don't mix well.
My Axe fx is coming in tommorow. It will in no way replace my Mod 50 amp on order, but it will Allow me to get my recordings and compositions done quickly and better then what I have used in the past. I will record a real amp from time to time, but when having to do many different sounds and styles, sims is a superb idea, and quick.
