I was in GC and trying out a LP and saw the little Jerry Cantell head on a 1x12. First thought of a 1x12 cab for $650 is WTF!!! I can buy a 4x12 for $400 used! But after playing it I said again WTF!!! Did they sprinkle some magic unicorn pixie dust on those 1x12's? The little thing sounded huge. I did notice it had a Creamback 65 watter loaded. The little Cantrell amp sounded great as well but I don't think I've played a 1x12 cab I liked as much, that includes any Mesa like thiele 1x12 or my Recto slant 1x12!!!! If someone pukes on one or spills beer and sells used I'll jump on one, still have a hard time paying that much for a 1x12 though.

IT is a nice little cab if you like the creamback speaker. It is a ported enclosure like the Bogner cube but without the batting in it. The Mesa 1x12 widebody ported with a V30 is also a great cab. LIke you said though, it is pricey.

I'm in the market for a nice 1x12 and would love a Friedman or Bogner (or something in that camp) but I just cannot justify paying those prices. I already have speakers laying around so I'm thinking about a Mojotone Canyon 1x12

I remember playing the Pink Taco with matching 1x12 cab years ago and was blown away by the low end that thing pumped out.

I played the old Taco 1x12 (with a V30) along side a Marshall 300w 4x12, and the Taco 1x12 just crushed it. Those 300w cabs aren't my favorite, but man I was impressed by that 1x12.

Where are these $400 used 4x12 cabs hanging out that aren't junk?

Am I imagining things or were these cabs not going for $599 not too long ago? Probably that's the case...I'm thinking about ordering a Splawn 1x12 with a Creamback 65.

I have two of the Friedman 1x12's. Didn't think they're that great on their own, especially compared to a good 4x12, not even close. I use them as the wet cabs for my wdw setup. Didn't like the creambacks either. I replaced them with alnico creams.

I picked them both up used in the $300 range.

I use a Mesa widebody 1x12 3/4 back and its sounds huge.

So we switched from talking Friedman or other high end cab (1x12) to the run of the mill Marshall 4x12...

Carry on
Industry standard cabinet that tour the world over and are on countless backlines not good enough for you?

I was in the same situation. I have 3 4x12s but no smaller cabs and didnt feel like spending 700 on a Friedman 1x12 (after taxes). Found the PRS tremonti 1x12 loaded with a vintage 30 for 350 new. looks pretty good and the small box fits on it well.

Doesn't V-Boutique make Bogner cabs? Maybe they have a cheaper in-house version.

Cut the shit. You lowballed prices, got called out on it and then want to go nostalgic on me to save face...lol. The majority of players here on this forum are looking for something higher end than a base line Marshall cabinet. Line up all the cabinet options available today over all those iconic yesteryears and see what is chosen to use. I doubt it will be Marshall like it was back in the day. What amps do you own? Isn't Fender or old Marshall good enough for you? :ROFLMAO:

Yes, an old Fender and Marshall are good enough for me. When did I lowball prices? What are you talking about? Frankly, I don't think you have a clue what the "majority of players" here are looking for and you might be surprised to find out how many of the best players on this forum are using a 1960 in some capacity.

Great! Play your Brutz on those things then while the other 99% here play something else and chase something else. To backtrack our little chat...Friedman cabs were the topic (1x12) Was EXPENSIVE. you went on to say a 4x12 could be had for $400 bucks. I asked where are those? (Sidenote) If they were out there I would take 20 of them. You then went bargain basement Marshall, backline, nostalgia, blah x 3. Marshall cabs do fine in certain situations. In others, they don't. Don't sit here and talk to me like they are the premiere choice in cabinets here or any other forum. YMMV

You accused me of using old Marshalls and Fenders in your first response (guilty as charged) but now accuse me of playing Brutz? You are all over the place here hombre. A 1960 with g1275s is a fine option and better than most other generic cabs out there. In closing, your addition of "don't sit here and talk to me" makes you seem rather enraged.

Sorry Amigo Karen, that is where you are wrong. Not enraged at all. You spin and twist like a champ. I bet you were a fun ride back in your glory days. ;)

Lighten up, I'm just taking the piss out of you. I forgot this place wasn't a Brutz forum and I apologize for ever "accusing you of playing the Brutz" as that would be such a horrible thing...lol. I accused you of being full of it for acting like 4x12 cabs are a dime a dozen at $400 bucks when the original topic was on Friedman cabs. Additionally, you talk as if everybody looking for a cab is lusting for that generic Marshall 4x12 cab here on the forum when 99.9% of the cats on here are chasing everything but "vintage" type gear. Hey, Marshall and Fender is great. They are the platform for which all the amps (Insert your favorite flavor of the day booteek brand here) are chasing.

Anyway, here is a 6 pack on me or a soy latte, whatever you prefer. Have an awesome day!

Have to disagree here. I played quite a few venues, where they had a 1960A with T75's available. A few times I *had* to use them (festivals with short change-overs), but I find them unbalanced and they seem to focus the sound a few meters/yards in front of it, where, if you take a step to the left or right, you're in a sort 'null', where the sound is considerably less nice, clear or powerful.
Now a 1960BX with 25W or 30W Greenbacks is a different matter, as is a JCM800 4x12 loaded with G12-65's... but other than that, I gladly take my Mesa vertical 2x12 over a bog standard 1960A with T75's, not to mention my Engl Pro 4x12 (with G12K85's/V30's).

I once had to share a backline with a punkrock band, and they used those MS-something Peavey cabs with the G12K85's in it. Fell in love right there! That can be considered a generic cab, that punches quite above the 1960A.
