Toying with the idea to buy a pair of the Straight Friedman cabs. Using them as a backline and not a monitor situation.
Currently running the Fractal into a VHT 2150 power amp and two 4x12's (not using any cab sims of course)

Is there going to be a huge difference with the ASM12 cabs and can I use the Fractals cab sims with them.

Any pros/con/ input.
Thanks

I guess you will have to adjust all your settings just because the VHT/Cab combo requires you to eliminate the power amp/cab simulation on the fractal. Whereas with the friedman you'll be going full FR/FR and that thing needs those engaged. Oh and any IRs will work, whether native or 3rd party i guess as long as your fractal unit can work with them.

I was one of the first people to own an ASM-12 when they came out because I had been researching and had someone put in an order for me. I don't gig anymore but was using it at home to jam with my Axe-Fx II and really loved it. Great cabinet and sounded awesome. The only way I can explain it is that is sounded like a guitar cab. I know some people say it colors the sound a bit so the heavier stuff sounds great, which is probably true.

I ended up getting some studio monitors and wasn't using mine anymore so ended up selling it. It was a great piece of gear. The only negative in my opinion is the weight. I tell ya, 53 pounds doesn't sound like much but when it is in a big block with one handle, it is like carrying an anvil around. When I carried it far, I had to pick it up like carrying a small child in my arms....a 53 lb child. After two hernia surgeries years ago, I was like this might not be a great thing. LOL

I use the Friedman’s and love them. Yes, you want to use them with the cab sims turned on in the Axe-Fx. And yes, you will probably need to tweak your presets a bit. Try setting the Lo and Hi cuts in the cab block to around 80-120 Hz and 4000-8000 Hz. Use the Global Output EQ in the Global setting to tweak your sound from venue to venue.
