watching again now and i see he has his presence on 0 in parts and the bass and thump way up on the BE channel, not sure what that is about but maybe some normal settings would help

+1 I know opinions vary but if this is to dark sounding I cant imagine it being brighter. This is as good as it gets , ymmvRaceU4her":xxomdrg6 said:Racerxrated":xxomdrg6 said:Ugh. this is one of my favorite vids and usually the video i use to describe the tone im hearing in my head, guess i was expecting more of this kind of sound than what im hearing in the OP vid.

True..my suggestion though would be to do a demo with different settings, for a few minute apiece..that way you could have a brighter example, middle of the road settings and a darker example, and a scooped metal example. No fx, just dry straight in. Then a clean channel demo. That's gonna cover most of our differences in tonal preference.Junk Yard Dog":ugijbvva said:It's a really good demo! Fact: Friedman amps are aggressive: not just the Slax. Move on...
Look, at the end of the day, if you want to know what an amp sounds, plays, and feels like, you gotta play the fucking amp: that simple. If I hear a shitty clip I don't like, I move on. If I hear shitty clips of a good to amazing amp I KNOW sounds great (TO MY EARS) because i've played it, I'll say, "well, I think that's a shitty clip!" and move on.
At one point, not too long ago, I put too much emphasis on clips... I don't anymore. There's always a variance. I've had many amps in the last 7 years and lost some money doing flips, but it was worth it because I could judge the amp and brand based on what my ears hard, not a clip.
I loved Reza's videos, but never liked the sound as much on his clips as I dug his play and walk through. Yup, you can't please everyone.
Dave's amps are what they are: you dig 'em or you don't. You can't base it off of a clip.

The sound I heard in the demos online were great, but hearing it at Sweetwater Ampfest was a totally different thing.
I have played a BE 100 in person and now have the JJ Jr. You could crank every knob and you are not going to get a bad tone in there. Like I mentioned years ago, the Friedman EQ is much more narrow than alot of other amps. What I mean by that is it is like they cut off frequencies at the top and bottom that suck ass. Throughout my years as a guitar player, I'd have amps where anything above 2 o'clock sounded harsh and boomy. I like that Friedman amps are usable completely around the dial.
I don't think anyone is judging the amp....just the demo. We all know the amp is killer, based on the reviews of the BE 50. Just change the EQ a bit during the demo, to show the different tones that it can produce.MetalHeadMike":21wrqnhj said:Junk Yard Dog":21wrqnhj said:Dave's amps are what they are: you dig 'em or you don't. This pretty much!
I think its hilarious when people judge an amp, or any gear, from clips They are fun to listen to and useful to a degree in painting a broad picture of a particular piece of gear, but to give your impressions of an amp based on a clip....
I listened to it again, honestly it still sounds good to me. I'm curious does the be100 dlx have as much gain as the Butterslax?RACKSYSTEMS":u6rsple7 said:You can’t fucking win... amp was recorded for the common listening source these days.. iPhone, ipad laptop, computer speakers etc... really this is what the vast majority of people listen on.. of course it can get aggressive and bright.. if I dial it that then you get complaints it sounds like shit when someone listens on a iPhone.. maybe I’ll do a video comparing it to a plexi and a 800 and 800 boosted and not tell anyone what is what...
Dave, I’d be happy to make another IPhone clip for you like I did for the BE50 that’s on your website. Only problem is I’d need an amp.RACKSYSTEMS":3kartxw2 said:You can’t fucking win... amp was recorded for the common listening source these days.. iPhone, ipad laptop, computer speakers etc... really this is what the vast majority of people listen on.. of course it can get aggressive and bright.. if I dial it that then you get complaints it sounds like shit when someone listens on a iPhone.. maybe I’ll do a video comparing it to a plexi and a 800 and 800 boosted and not tell anyone what is what...

Agreed. His 74 Marshall, Germino and Friedman demos all sounded very good to my ears.scottosan":1xd4shc7 said:I prefer LP Freaks demos better than any of this guys demos. They always sound like cab emulated recordings. The reality is that you can make most amps sound in a production environment. Just another opinion of preferring in room recordings for amp demos

That's all.
