High Voltage Dual-Tube Direct Solution

The Friedman IR-X dual-channel tube preamp is an entire Friedman rig in a compact pedalboard-friendly package. Powered by two high-voltage 12AX7 preamp tubes, each channel delivers the harmonic richness and touch response of Dave Friedman's finest designs. DSP IR cabinet/power amp simulation sends a studio-quality mic'd-up tone to your DAW or front-of-house.

All-Tube Friedman Tones

IR-X isn't simulating a Friedman tube preamp. It is one. While many available preamp pedals utilize tubes to 'warm up' their digital or solid-state circuit, two glowing 12AX7 preamp tubes, running at a proper high voltage, are this pedal's beating heart. A genuine preamp in every way, IR-X delivers all the tone, response, gain characteristics, and harmonic complexity you expect from a Friedman design.

Two Fully Independent Foot-Switchable Channels

Like the famous Friedman flagship amps, channel one takes your tone from bluesy, British-voiced cleans to a muscular Plexi-style roar. Engage channel two for the Friedman signature higher-gain voice and all the percussive punch, note clarity and singing sustain that comes with it.

Dual independent boosts

Both channels feature their own independent and highly tweakable boost circuits. This essentially gives you four channels, accessible with the tap of your toe.

Impulse Response Cabinet and Power Amp Simulation

All great tube amps need a great speaker cabinet, and whether sending your signal straight to the board or silently playing through the onboard headphone output, IR-X gives you a selection of Dave Friedman's favorite IRs. Select the IR per channel using the 3-way mini toggle switches or load your own quickly and easily via IR-X's editing software. You can even disengage the onboard IRs entirely to use IR-X's tube preamp with another IR loader.

IR-X SOFTWARE EDITOR

IR-X gives you astounding tonal control, but its included Friedman IR-X Editor software takes it to a new level. With it, you can tweak each channel's power amp simulation via the thump and presence controls, load your favorite IRs, activate the Boost Lock feature, select loop ON/OFF and save it all to 128 MIDI presets.

Sounds pretty good, looks like he threw a synergy preamp into a pedal for the floor and gave it back end digital cab sim options. Probably some power amp sim in there too. A win for Friedman. He should release more of these. Saves buying the synergy head to house the module. Not sure of the price though.

Looks great! You'd never know by the demos of the recurring cast of a-holes who do more talk then play. Top of the list is, of course Andertons. Instead of showing the Plexi ch for what it is, he immediately plugs Danish Pete's shit overdrive pedal.
It's $500. I'd get this and run it thru my Power Station.

Is this another sign that gear is trending to " not having a real amp onstage "

500$ He's priced it perfectly. If you have a Marshall tube power amp, you've essentially got a BE with features. Also great it is a pedal and not a rack unit. This is key. Good execution, love that it has tOoBz. SS stuff is great but it's lacking.

Sounds good- I just wish other companies made something like this since I don’t like Friedmans😂

I might actually get one of these; shit sounds dope af to me

I don’t get the benefit of mixing tubes preamps just to wrap it in and IR in the end. If you decide to go the IR route, you might as well just go the profiling or modeling route for the entire chain. Just my 2cents

Finally got my video up after a bunch of editing and rendering delays (and still has fucked up b-roll and a bad edit in the first 90 second. Lol)

Really cool pedal, that I can see appealing to someone who wants a direct FOH solution but is afraid/confused by the more complex modeler stuff.
Sounds very Friedman, whether you like that or not will probably be the deciding factor on if you think this sounds good. I still prefer the sounds from the BE-OD deluxe for the heavier stuff, but this pulls off the clean plexi/crunchy stuff much better while still copping the signature Friedman high gain tones. Takes boosts like a champ, too.

If you watch, be prepared for talking. If you don't like talking, don't watch.

analog preamp with ir sounds and feels much better that 100% digital
I would contend that a properly profiled amp should be minimally indiscernible from a real one if the only listening source is studio monitors or FRFR. If you are listening to a real amp in room with cab but using IRs with a load box, that’s a different story.
