i think the one that starts out is the actual plexi

two hints at least for me with headphones on.

a bit more marshall "clank"

a bit more noise, buzz.

the second amp, is a little smoother, and whole lot less noisy.

imo of course!

I love when people TRY to use phrases like this as justification..."also think about this, with the plexi you have one sound"...

Now I admit I have not played "every" plexi in the world...nor have I played "every" amp in the world, but of ALL the amps I have played and owned...EACH one of them had MANY sounds...heck I thought that was the point of all those knobs!!!

So to the thought..."with the plexi you have one sound"...I call BULLSHIT!!!

very cool! the fact that the Friedman can get that plexi tone and an awesome high gain tone as well says a lot for that amp! :thumbsup I do hear VERY minor tone differences, but heck that could be the difference in just how hard the guy is hitting the guitar in that particular second.

Ok correct yes a plexi can get many sounds but not at lower volumes. The eq is not very active and if you want more gain you will need a pedal. It would never get a fender style clean etc. Thats all I'm saying.

Ehh, I'm just messing with you! Friedman makes great amps...no doubt

If I were going for that tone, which is a nice tone...I'd take the one that is $2500 LESS expensive than the other. WHAT!

That would probably be the Friedman with what real Plexi's are going for these days.

All of those "persian carpets" actually used to belong to Eddie Van Halen and he used them on tour to drape the dressing and back stage meet and greet rooms.

Then I'm going to guess you guys had them steam cleaned several times before hanging them up. :D

The Helios does sounds good. Jerry Cantrell will be playing them soon enough...

The new Helios are what 2400 for a 50 and 2700 for a 100 watt ?
Why drop 3600 + when you can get better for 1k less ??
Helios doesn't have a full clean and from the clips of just the clean, it doesn't touch the SS. Not that you buy a 3k+ amp for the clean, but i'm just sayin.

I'm liking that the dickola is actually called Dickola.
That'd be like Charlie Sheen being christened, well, Dickola I suppose.

Dicola, I think you'd be quite impressed with a Friedman Amp in the collection!

I would like to also say that I sounded a bit anti Friedman and I do not want to come across like that.
Truth is, Friedmans are great amps IMO, and if I had the extra funds, I'd probably be in line purchasing one as well.
NIce one.
This is Dave's thread, yet you came in, took a dump in his toilet, and on the way out shouted that you hadn't flushed.
I don't like sycophancy and enjoy alternative opinions, but there are ways to do that with respect.

Now Dave, which was which?

5 sec SS100
11 sec marshall
16 sec SS100
22 sec marshall
27 sec SS100
42 sec marshall

When I first listened to this, I was waiting for the second or comparison to switch in. So, in other words, the first time I listened, granted standing in line for lunch, I heard very little difference. So, which is which, I dunno they both sounded killer. So the point is with the SS100, you can get multiple tones where as with a plexi you get one at a time. I think that is Dave's whole point.

Because like most of Bogners amps, it sounds like the Helios lacks in both the gain and sustain dept. if the clips he has out there are any indication, I'll pass.

I can't believe someone would say this. Bogner amps lack in gain and sustain?!
