How about time changes? Is easy to switch from a 4/4, to a 5/4, to 17/8? If so, I'll be trying fl first.
Now this is something Ive been trying to figure out in garageband... i.e. How to change time signatures within the same song! At this point I dont think its possible in garageband yet, or maybe I too much of teh noob to figure it out.

Can you do this in FL?

That sounded pretty good. Ive never used Fruity Loops although Im guessing Garageband is basically a rip off (or vice versa) of it?

Fruity Loops is more centered on sequencing, instead of trying to be an all-in-one product... at least the version I have. And, that's no hate for GarageBand, good product, GREAT product to include standard on machines.
Interesting. I ask because it sounds like some shit Id throw together in garageband. :D

The synth patches in garageband are pretty cool too. Ive actually been thinking about buying more loops for garageband, but if Im not sure if I should buy them from apple, or just try and find free ones online? There has got to be a free source of loops for garageband somewhere on teh intranetz right? :D

There should be some free ones out there, but a bud of mine bought the expansion pack from Apple and really dug it... That's how he's done pretty much all his tunes. Solo with samples.

Haven't tried it in GB, but in Cubase, all I've had to do is lay out a tempo/time-signature chart and it'll follow accordingly for clicks and stuff.

You don't HAVE to... ;)

From what I remember, it wasn't THAT expensive for him, he was broke-ass at the time and still swung the purchase.

That was entertaining. Post it when you get some geetars and stuff on there too... Would be cool to hear where this is going since I already have it planned out in my own head...

Steve

Probably not out of the question, he offered them to me if I wanted to install them on my box. Didn't grab a copy of them though, otherwise I'd shoot it to ya.

Awesome! Thanks!

Fruity Loops is easy and fun and sounds great!

The way i learned to blah in it was just to take one of those preset programs and play with it. The randomizing appregiator is a great way to slap in a quick lick. i spent the first few weeks doing nothing but creating rap songs with a retarded bass boost and pumping it in my buddy's truck through his 3x10" JL Audio W6 series. anyway, there are some seriously good sounding things in there.

good times.

I'm such a noob that I've messed with FruityLoops on separate occasions.. and never knew anything out side of the sequencer.

Once you get use to using the Piano Roll and the Playlist.. it's pretty nice.

http://www.warbeats.com has some tutorials w/ video to get people started.. not sure if that site has been mentioned yet or not.
