Gibson Explorer Baritone... Preciosa fingerboard?

I found this online and it's struck me, even though I've always been anti-Gibson.

Has anybody played one of these? What the heck is preciosa?

Just a different south american rainforest hardwood.

27 3/4" scale? No thanks.... I quit playing bass years ago...

I feel more comfortable on 27-28" lengths. I've even got a 30", but that's one a little weird to play.

So, just to get up to date, they don't use rosewood still? cant get it?

i remember they used a different type of rosewood on those new lp's a while ago

They are using two ply rosewood these days, like Fender.
