The colors and matching headstock are cool, and the 490R/498T set is a favorite of mine. Would've liked to see them keep the locking tuners (I guess the neck carve wouldn't have worked). I'm not a fan of the sound from most of the thinner-bodied LPs (regardless of pickups), and probably wouldn't go for one of these myself, but the lighter weight and playability while at least looking somewhat unique can make it a serviceable backup sure.
Yeah the matching headstock looks awesome. I dig the colors but would be even cooler to get some muscle car purple, slime green, sparkle blue, etc in there. These are great colors to separate from the other models though.

I'm going to have to play on to really know if I'll dig it but I'll be honest, I was playing my 2019 "boat anchor l" Les Paul Standard today and the lighter weight would be nice, lol.

Yup those are the ones. They came out back in the 80’s the first time. White, black and purple flake…not sure about the gold ones. The guitarist from kingdom clone played one. Then they did another reissue as well and a standard lite version. I think those were for music zoo and ams…. I believe…

I have a super nice studio sitting in my music room right now and I hate it. I have never played a studio yet that I liked. I'm afraid these will be the same.
Know what's odd? Over 20 years, I have only played 2 Gibson LPs that I liked. One random one in a shop with a maple board and the one I now own. Played it just for kicks in the shop I was giving lessons in and hey....it ended up being the one. Got it crazy cheap due to a snapped headstock repair. Luthier had repaired it and put it up for sale. Every other LP I play is no bueno. I can't stand the way the neck feels on a lot of them and something is always a bit dark in the tone. This has a round, thicker carve, feels like a 59 probably (?). I think it is a Studio plus or something from 2004. Flamed top in a Desert burst. This one is very mid grunty and snappy.

Got it cheap, helped me get over not wanting to buy anything damaged/repaired and I have a killer guitar. Another good thing is that the break was perfect! What do I mean? Looks just like it was almost cut for a scarf joint. Way stronger than before and is very responsive and resonant as can be.

My first les Paul was a 70’s deluxe. I was told it was late 60’s but who knows? It was a blue metal flake and joan Jett’s guitarist has the only other one I’ve ever seen. Anyway we were jamming one day in college when decade of aggression came out if that tells you how long ago it has been…lol…anyway I let a friend take a turn and it slipped out of the strap and cracked the neck on impact. Buddy felt terrible about it but it was an accident. Anyway my local repair guy was able to glue it up and you could see where it had cracked but it was solid as a rock. I guess he was able to get glue all inside it and pressed it till set. Never had any issues. So I would buy one with a neck repair.

I was just a guy who always loved pristine instruments. Now... As I've gotten older... I really, really dig the beat up '68 Mustang I have. (Original). I totally get some of the love for Relic stuff. This LP is kinda beat up but there was no checking or anything.

I hit the back with some fun techniques to cause checking and really dig it. Of course, that's just the back. It's real checking, as in, you can only see it really when the light hits it for now, but over time the gaps will widen/become more significant.

Speaking of maple boards…I have an acquaintance who has a solid maple les Paul custom with black inlays and binding. I assume it’s maple. And my stepfather has a solid maple standard. Both Kalamazoo guitars I believe.

I'm the opposite. I can pick up most Les Pauls and I'm there, feels right and sounds killer. I did hate the super thick, sticky necks they used to have. I think that is why I'll probably really dig the Modern Lite. That satin neck will be a nice touch.

I'm finally to the point where guitar-wise, I have my bases covered. Big Les Paul, a great Strat, a Chubtone for hair metal, Peavey Wolfgang for Eddie tones, etc.

I haven't played one of these yet but I'm intrigued. Lighter body, 498 pickups, Grover tuners, no frills, etc. It is almost like an SG with an LP shape. Slab of mahogany. I'm looking for a lighter backup guitar for my Classic and this seems pretty cool.

I always though those 90's Studio Lites were cool. Full thickness body, ebony neck, cool stuff. Even some of the colors were really nice.

Not digging that modern lite.
Every once in a while I pick up a really great studio, but don't like most of them. The silverburst standard i have now, with ebony board and bound neck/headstock, is light, plays and sounds great. Custom vibe with standard sound.
Almost got a flamed purple LTD once. Those are nice for the $.

I found a white custom lite local but dude wants 3k for it. I remember when you could get the first run models for 1500 or less. Why I never snagged one is beyond me. Oh well. That modern lite might be killer. One of my all time favorite gibby's was an sg gothic. And it was a cheapie at the time. I got a good one because it ripped and played like a dream. How much were these again?

They are around $1500. I agree and I'm thinking more like it is an SG shaped a Les Paul. I have Les Pauls. I need a super light, think one.
