Just bought a 83 Flying V and it has an incorrect truss rod cover installed on it. The covers are listed on ebay for $829 with hundreds sold apparently. Anyone know why? are these things really that valuable?

Thats bullshit and I bet they are not gibson. Call gibson and see if you can buy and while youre at it report those fuckers from wisconsin.

I called gibson to ask about that cause they are not made by Gibson, somebody`s got a cnc. The customer service guy didnt act to concerned?

Considering that price, you could probably just go to Etsy or somewhere like that and have somebody make one for you.

It's a truss rod cover. A small flat piece of plastic. Under no circumstance should anybody pay hundreds for that nonsense, no matter what it looks like.

Dear God, get an exacto knife and make one

800$?! These Gibson vintage parts are out of control

I saw that store on Ebay when I was looking for one for an ESP and thought WTF??

FWIW, I found what I needed from Philadelphia Luthier.

When I clicked on the link where it shows how many have sold, it says there are no purchases made. Something shady going on there for sure.

If you click on the black/white one, says $829 on the listing but the actual sold pieces show $29 and they haven't sold one since May of 2019. I'm thinking this is some kind of hijacked account just trying to sucker someone in.

Philadelphialuthiertools.com makes custom truss rod covers. They are very nice and the price is reasonable as well.
