Yeah, I could see a hardtail string through ala Jake E. Lee.. just no pickguard. Use one of those heavy brass string through bridges.

I was reading that popsicle sticks are made from birch which could be an interesting choice for a guitar body.
My old studio drum set was birch because they are a bit fuller at lower volumes than maple.
I believe that's pretty standard, if I'm not mistaken.
Would be interesting to see how that would work out for a guitar.
