Opinions please. No KT tubes.
I have one coming with 4 - 6V6's to go along with my MTL and MCII - something magical about the 40w power section and high gain. I also like 50w, either EL34 or 6L6 would kill also. Picked up a KT75 MCII recently with 2 KT88, I'm generally not a giant fan of KT88 but Rick knows what he's doing.Opinions please. No KT tubes.

Does it come without tubes?Opinions please. No KT tubes.
I think he meant he doesn't prefer the KT88 tubes, all Wizards include tubesDoes it come without tubes?
I had a KT66 120w HR, which could also run 6L6s. I liked it but I preferred my KT66 MTL Mk2 60w a little more, as well as my 50w el34 MTL mk2. If you are set on 6L6, go with the 50w with C transformers, will be much more raw/aggressive. I've owned so many wizards, and I've grown to prefer the 50 w models a little more. Though my Kt150 MTL Mk2 is killer.
What about the MTL Mk2 makes you prefer it to the HR?
My HR was smoother than I wanted it to be. I know Rick has made some updates since I got mine - in part from what I believe was similar feedback from a particular artist who had an el34 version....so maybe the current version fixed my issues. It was still a killer amp, but it wasn't getting me all that I was hoping for and my UBer Ultra on channel 1 scratched that itch for me
Thanks!
Hey here's another random question about Wizards if that's alright. I've seen some Wizards with red LED's and some with blue LED's. Can you just choose which color you want? If that's the case, are the blue LED's Wizard uses like most blue LED's where they're so bright you can barely look at them head on, or are they about the same brightness as the red LED's?

I went with the 50 watt. My MCII is 50 watts as well.
If I got a Hell Razor, I would go 6L6 also. The HR is a modern high gain, preamp-centric, fire breathing metal amp all about huge crushing tones. To me, 6L6's have always been better at pairing up with that kind of sound. The extended highs and lows of 6L6's relative to EL34's, and also a 6L6's tendency to not mush up the mids at high volumes like EL34's can, seems like a better fit for that kind of sound.
Granted I'm talking about like a 2% difference in sound. I have an EVH Stealth 100w (which has 6L6's) and an EVH EL34 100w, and when I A/B them I cannot emphasize enough how small the difference is between those amps.
Mines on the way now !Rick talked me into EL34s…gotta go with him.
Congrats dude! Looking forward to your review on it and of course, I hope you love it! I am sure you will....can't go wrong with Wizards!I went with the 50 watt. My MCII is 50 watts as well.
Really want to hear one of these!Mines on the way now !
