I’m curious to know, your thoughts on the Hell Razor for playing extended range? It seems like it would be a perfect amp for this kinda stuff.

It gets super tight even on an 8 string- especially with the right settings and/or a boost

How would you say gower compares to wizard? I have a hell razor and owned a mc ii previously
Never played a Wizard so I don't know; however, I have a Headfirst MTL 100 clone built by Jason that should be delivered today. I can test it out this afternoon and give you my two cents.

Nope. I was supposedly on the wait list for a Gower but never heard anything. I can’t say I’ve heard anything that would make me want to put money towards a Hermannson but I’d obviously like to try one in person to hear if there’s something in the room.

I’m mostly interested in how well they record, so a good mic’d up tone is essential. There’s more than enough Gower examples that leave me with little doubt I’d love it. The Hermannson examples just don’t sound to my taste at all, and most of the time I’d (respectfully!) prefer the amps stock with a boost.

Can’t like them all, and it’s cool there is stuff that divides opinion, otherwise shit would be boring.

As I said, I’d love to hear a Hermannson that blows my socks off.
I was supposedly on Dan's list for a custom KK++ too, but have yet to hear anything from him. I contacted him Jan 2022 about the build and the last contact I had with him was in July 2022. Not saying he's shady -- I'm sure he's just busy -- but his wait time must be massive at this point.

Yeah, I haven’t nudged him, and honestly I’m not in a huge rush so I’m not too fussed either way right now.

Happy for him that he’s so busy and doing good work

Same here. I haven't said anything to him and don't really care about timeframe, as I have plenty of amps to play. But, if he does reach out to me, I'm excited to get the custom KK I wanted. I think he's just gotten so popular and he does all the work himself, so...

Dan sourced, built, and shipped my KK++ in under 3 months back in 2020. I’ve lived happily ever after.

Yeah Dan takes a while and even when you email he can take a bit to get back (or need reminding). I think I was on his waitlist for 18 months for mine.

Never played a Hermansson but owned a 2203x Rock Monster from Gower and it was such a great amp. Liked it leaps/bounds better the the Monomyth 1987x I had and some of the other "M" type modded amps. The Gower was THE tightest amp plugged straight in (next to the Savage 120) but still fun to play. Plus the feel knob or whatever it was labeled let you dial everything from stupid tight and clanky to everything in between. Great tone to it as well...warm but cutting & fairly aggressive, but not near the most aggressive amp, fun feel under the fingers.

As killer as growers are, Hermansson, all day, every day. Hermansson are killer. Tight, defined, thick, tough, and most importantly, when I play my Hermansson, I feel very macho.

I had a 2016 MTL & 1996 MC and Gower Rockmonster and KK++. Wizard’s have a unique openness, definition and robust quality to the punch that you won’t get in the Gower’s

The Gower’s will be a more familiar modded Marshall sound that is more warm, rich, greasy/saturated, easy to play, juicy and growly in the midrange vs Wizard, but still plenty tight if needed. The Wizard’s have a somewhat hollow quality in the midrange that is somewhere in between a Marshall and Hiwatt sound

Both are really good. I only sold the last Wizard I had because of my Carlsboro Hermansson and sold my Gower’s because I liked the Cameron mods I had at the time and a few others better to for that kind of sound
