Here is a list of all the reputable magazines that pay for interviews:
Idk, as far as I'm aware reputable magazine writers/editors always paid bands, movie stars and other celebrities for their time and interaction - regardless of era. I'm not sure why Guitar Player magazine would be any different.

Good riddance. Guitar Player magazine was done when they hired that ball washer Joe Gore.
It was super bad when Lisa was there too lmao, tbh I'm surprised it lasted so long with the internetz

Surprised it lasted as long as it did, tbh.

Learned alot from that magazine. So many good columns and lessons every month. Bought alot of music cause of it too.

I had a subscription to GP magazine when I was a kid...

...also a subscription to Creem magazine...

then I'd get individual issues of mags if they had tabs of interest...

I haven't purchased a guitar mag in years; I was surprised the last time I got that thick Sweetwater catalog, it was already out of date vs the website, and had much less info than the website; I told them to stop sending it to me years ago.

I just got my notice in the mail. Sad day and big time bummer.
I dnt like the digital version, especially all the distractions and junk windows, gets so cluttered at times I can't even find the actual article.Besides that I live in an area that has bad internet.
I've had a subscription since mid 80s.All neatly organized. This wouldn't have hurt so bad if it was my premier guitar subscr.Guitar world and player are my favs..also have all guitar shop and guitar one collections too....dangit.just dangit.

I recently unsubscribed from the Premier Guitar emails for the same reason. Try to enter enter a guitar giveaway, can't find entry form.
:(

Not for me . I need sheet music with tab with the standard notation and on a stand . But it’s ok I’ll just shred more

.....I hear ya.
I teach my students from the print editions of guitar pl,guitar worl, gui for practicing musicians, guitar one.
It's an easy workflow with paper copies of a lesson, and we tried the online version lessons once and it was a cluster %$^ trying to stop the adds and pop ups just so the students could learn without distraction. Print was soooo much easier to work with.

I never cared much for Guitar Player but still hate to hear it if just for any impact to promoting guitar. I keep a few subscriptions just to support. I keep the following through Apple subscriptions
Guitar World
Guitar Technique
Premier Guitar

Guitar Shop was the best ever. They would put out a negative or positive, honest review regardless wether you had an ad or not. Total credibility.

It's all we had before the internet
When my wife & I moved into our house 10 years ago i had about 500 lbs of GP and other mags i swore id never do that again. Hardest part of that move was carrying all those mags down 3 flights of stairs to the dumpster.
