heres a little herbert in action form our most recent hometown show at The Valarium in knoxville TN. It was big fun the place was packed and herbie sounded great. im playing through a diezel v30 loaded cab and a splawn Big BLock loaded cab, but thats just because my second diezel cab hasnt arrived yet ;) sorry bout shitty audio it was just the microphone from our personal camera with no line out, the tone on stage was much tighter sounding and less fizzy on the low strings. hope you guys enjoy!

Disgusting!
What kind of arpeggios were those? They had such a cool sound. Reminds me of the Greg Howe stuff. THAT is a good thing too!

Great stuff Andy. Is that the mahogany Anderson, H3 pickup? Ch? Midcut? Settings? Come on fess up. :D Sounds sweet. I've been playing my TA guitar a lot lately, it's so versatile.

Andy, that was GOD-LYKE!!!!
Eric Johnson, Shawn Lane and mandolin pickin' all rolled into one. BTW, the Anderson and Herbert sound FEEE-nom-en-nall!!!

Did anybody mention yet that the man plays phenomenally good? :D

I haven't heard many who can perform like that standing in front of a crowd.

:rawk:

look at you guys being sweet to me :) i appreciate the kind words and will try my best to answer all questions!

Rob, i assume you are talking about the arpegios in the end? they are loosely based off of some simple major7th shapes, the trick is you have to do em like greg howe and "hammer from nowhere" with your left hand, right before i go into em you can see me slide my cheater hair band around the neck i am a huge fusion, howe, kotzen, govan fan and so i rip em off whenever i can and throw my redneck take on em   the last series of sweeps are based around e augmented shapes, if you like a will try and post a lesson video explaining some of those dudes on you tube, they sound wild! thanks for the kind words and i hope i was of some help!

supersonic, no that is my beloved basswood maple hum sing hum anderson. i named it the ring, because its precious to me LOL, yes h3 in bridge, my settings are gonna sound wild but here they are, ch3 of course. gain 2:30 or less. volume high like 2:00. treble 10-11:00, mid 2:30, bass noon. now my little herbie secret. mid cut on but LOW like 8:30 then level at 12:30 (i dont use it to cut mids it just seems to throw a different voice on em just me though  ) presence up to compensate for low treble, around 1:00, deep noon, v 2master as loud as you can take it :rawk: i also notice that v2 master throws a different voice on the amp and i like it better for leads. anderson thru herbie ftw baby! love those guitars!

nbarts and mike (eddyrox for those that dont know him) please dont ever compare me to eric johnson and shawn lane, im not worthy :worship: im mererly a padawan, they are jedi!!! :jedi: :force: but thank you for the kind words! and yeah there are some redneck mandolin licks in there, all my music dork friends like to call me the shredneck LOL thanks for the compliments on playing live like that, i have a strong belief that if you cant bring it in front of a crowd then what good is it? dont get me wrong there are 12 year old girls on youtube in their bedrooms with more chops than petrucci but it becomes a whole new game in front of a few thousand people, hell its a new game in front of 20 people!!

thanks again for the kind words fellas you guys made my rig-talk playing debut a good one!! you boys rock!!

delicious!!

of course we want a video lesson!! :)

what a beautiful sound from both your Herbert, axe and not less your HANDS!! ;)

Interesting settings. I find my TA gets a little undefined past 12:00 but it 's a HDT with a H2. I think the H3 takes the higher gain settings better. Do you always use those Midcut settings, or just on solo's?

Very very cool, Andy. Inspired a bit by Paul Potts - aham - Pavarotti of course? ;)

I'll put that up onto the official site as a vid of the month if you agree.

It perfectly shows that Herbert is way more than just a metal monster !

You rock !!

Didn´t know that we have a real star on board.

Thanks Andy for let us sharing !

you guys are making me blush! of course i would be HONORED to be on the main page, for as long as you will have me!!! Peter thank you for the monster amps! i have sold 5 for you already from people being at different shows! and i use those midcut settings on every channel, i never scoop em like i said i just kinda turn it on for that cool voicing with the intensity around 8:00/8:30 it just roars! I was wondering if anyone would catch the Pavarotti quote ;) great ears Olaf!

thanks again fellas!

absolutely Andy! I think that the corollary to this is that you need to "learn" to "play loud" - and this is NOT just something I pulled off of the side Yngwie's '72 "Duck" strat. As a sworn Diezel player, you've got to be able to unleash all the tone that's been baked into these heads. If you can't play 'em at the volumes they were intended, you miss out on a significant part of the Diezel tone and experience.

Play loud, play fast and play live!!

EJ and SL (RIP) have got nothin' on you bro! As Yoda would say, "Padawan learner, you are no longer. Master Jedi, you are."

Oh thank you man!!!!
Finally someone who´s telling those kids outside, how to use that amp and the midcut feature.

You rock!

Nice Nessun Dorma. ;)

Cool solo! I must say, I really dig your whole band. Great writing, playing & production. Best of all is that you all seem to have great attitudes & look like your having fun. That shines through the performance like nothing else! Kinda reminds me of the vibe that Van Halen had when I used to see them as a kid.

peace,
-d
