Like so many others said, the typical overly-gated, boosted Peavey 5150/6505 through V30s thing has got to go. No problem with 5150s or V30s, just the two paired together are often dialed in for the most obnoxious guitar tone ever.
HM-2 is the second most overused, to the point I kind of want to get a HM-2 or derivative and use it EQ'd entirely different as a lead boost or something, just to be a contrarian.
