Guitar star extinction?

I will watch the video later, but I think the traditional guitar star was taken down by the decline of guitar in popular music. That’s all.
And I think a lot of that was due to rock losing its rebellious side and mystery.

All he basically says was Elvis and the Beatles were rock stars and today it’s not the same lol

people bitching about things on the internet and girls who show butt cheeks are the new rock stars. id way more rather look at butt cheeks than hear another guitar solo

Led Zeppelin, The Continental.. that’s fucking rock stars man.
TV’s winged out the windows, rent out the entire hotel and ride Harley’s up & down the
halls & through the hotel room walls👍
Burinin’ down the town when they came on through….
On & off the stage.

Kashmire wasn’t written from being wimps.
That’s a menacing riff, with the distortion being John Bonham up Pagey’s butt.
And it was the song “Rat” put on the the 8 track radio in Fast Times At Ridgemont High when he was fervently trying to win over his girl with the popped cherry.
Me to Rat:
“Rat.. -WELL DONE with the Zeppelin now go stab out and win that woman’s favor back”
Word.

The internet has provided access to anyone who practices and has a personality the path to be a guitar hero

yet no one ever seems to talk about how great this is in its own right.. how you dont need to depend on a band, labels, managers and whoever else in the machine to get to where you want, how modern equipment has made professional sounding recordings at home easily attainable, how cool it is you can actually connect with your fans via social media, or even beyond that actually have internet bands.. i really cant think of a better time to be a guitar player honestly :dunno:

This is your guitar hero!
More proof that a large majority of younger players don't get it. Guitar heroes back in the day had skills, swagger, and lived a lifestyle. I could care less about this super perfect, mile a minute playing. It is stale and has no bounce.

You know Rock and Roll if you know. If you don't, it can't be taught and is a feel and a vibe and a tone. I will say this, when I go to Guitar Center and a 10 year old is playing Deep Purple, Zeppelin, or Metallica, etc. it puts a smile on my face.

90% of music listeners would rather not hear wanking.......guitar, piano, whatever.

I am solidly into that camp....play for the fucking song. If you are exceptional....you can still show off your skills with fills and tasty chops.....no need to be a wanker.

Recently worked with some top session guys, they have skills that blew my mind, can play anything from traditional Jewish hymns to jazz to country to pop to rock....you name it.....but the coolest thing about them was....they instantly come up with stuff that FITS the songs perfectly, and add to the song.....no fucking wanking,,,.just killer chops.
