Starting to look at 7's....looking to spend between $300-$500 bucks.

What do you recommend?

I plan to upgrade the pickups in them if they are not up to far such as stock Ibby's.

ibanez s7 or rg7 lots of used ones under 500. I saw a few for 200 used on gc. Crap trems but block that beyatch and you are good to go. I was gonna pick one up as back up as my anderson is wrapped in cellophane for protection against me.

RG7620, RG1527, Hellraiser, etc. Lurk over at sevenstring.org and see what's for sale in the classifieds. The more patient you are, the better deal you can find.

I bought my RG7420 for 500. I could've gotten it for less but I was in a hurry. You can find other RGs like the 7321 in pawn shops or on Craigslist all the time. It's easier if you're wanted a fixed bridge.

I love my schecter black jack 7 string and you can find them used between $250 and $400. They come with duncans and american hardware. hard to beat for the coin. ;)

My first thought. Check this page for some killer looking guitars. I've never personally played an Agile, but I've never heard anything negative about them. http://www.rondomusic.com/7string.html

I've had my eye on this one forever.

This guy brings the goods. Agile's rock, don't get that Douglas piece of shit they sell there.

I think I am going with a 7420 or 7421...if I can find a deal then the 7620 or 7621.

I would prefer fixed...but I could just block the trem, right? How do I go about doing that?

Tremol-no or just some wood.

You could get a tremel-no, or fasten something inside with glue to block the trem, either way works. Agiles are cheap and their LP line is great, but personally I couldn't get into the necks for a 7 string 'shred' guitar if it's anything like the necks on the LPs.

Also IIRC, there aren't any 7-string Agiles without EMGs or maybe Blackouts, and IMO those EMG to passive conversation rings are ugly.

Agile Septor

Septor is the model without a trem, right? That may be why I couldn't remember them, when I was shopping around I was only looking for something with a trem. I can't get comfortable on fixed bridges.

I got my first 7 string two months ago and now I'm planning on selling all my other 6 string guitars.

I got a Schecter Black Jack C7 for $320 shipped from fleabay. Came with one noticeable ding and lot of GAS for more 7 strings.  I love it!

The agile septor/interceptor guitars, I've been reading a while about them on the SS.org...other than the frets themselves, people say its the best bang for the buck. The Agile standard for 'Jumbo' is completely different than the other guitar manufacturers.

I bought a brand new Washburn 7-string for $199, threw some Dimarzios in, and it's a killer looking and sounding axe. Went all-out on the bridge (X2N7), then smooth on the neck (Blaze).

I have an Ibanez RG7620 that i wouldn't mind selling. It has a few dings but plays great. Could use some new pups. Ill will throw in a HSC as well.

ESP LTD H-207 or H-307. Killer guitars and you can score them cheap. Admittedly, I am not an Ibanez fan, but I think these slay the cheaper Ibbys.
