This probably seems a bit left-field here, or maybe not............

I'm invited to a 30th birthday party this Saturday and it's an 80s music/hair metal theme. So basically we're all gonna rock out with our cocks out (including the chicks, so to speak!)
The music setlist will be a Rig-Talk convention's dream! haha! ;)

I'm really short on cash and time, so am wondering how to go about a costume for this party.

I already have long-ish hair (dreadlocks, past my shoulders), so I don't need a wig.

Any suggestions? I am on a VERY tight budget, $50 max.

This seems the perfect place for spandex, aqua net, and guy liner Q&A.

try your local resale shop (goodwill, salvation army, etc). Some cities have shops that sell or rent stage costumes, check for one of those in your town.

Old jeans (too tight?), torn
Converse shoes?
Eyeliner is cheap and does the trick, don't shy on the makeup!
Bandana
Cheap accessories (bracelets, chains etc.)
Any colourful top, layers
Pirate shirt

Tight jeans, cowboy boots if 'ya got 'em, ripped/cut up sleeveless t-shirt, eyeliner, Aquanet ! done !

Is that RT's own Brad King rockin' the purple leopard spandex before he joined up in the Marine Corp ? :D

80's was about not speading money on anything but booze and dope!

Ripped up tee shirt, jeans, boots or high tops and you're good to go.

Haha! I'm glad this thread is not out of context ;)

Thanks very much for your suggestions guys.

Bandana- CHECK
Sleeveless t-shirt- CHECK
Converse shoes- CHECK

All I need is the tight jeans and eyeliner! I've come down in weight alot recently so all my current jeans are too baggy. I might just grab a tight pair from St. Vinnie's or Good Sammy like suggested.

I'm thinking too about some cheap toy-like bullet belts? You see I'm more Bay Area thrash metal than the LA glam hair metal which is the theme of the party so it'd be good to have something in honour of that.

Or just go against the grain and west a flannelette shirt with a New Wave band shirt underneath? :p

Shrink a pair of jeans in the dryer and starch the shit out of them

remember wearing tight jeans will make your balls ache like crazy after a few hours....no pain no gain

Ha! I'm dreading it now...............

I found a pair of old leather pants, but they are women's pants and a BIG pair at that- they are super tight on my legs (I can't lift 'em!) but a bit too wide on my hips. The ladies in the op shop started reminiscing about when they used to wear leather pants back in the 80s, told me to wear the studded belt low, then one of them suggested to get some "guyliner".....

Oh and the chick that is having the birthday party suggested the very pic posted in this thread as a suggestion for a costume!
