No, not european 90s pornstars - my new amp's distorted channel (2,3) :D

Some may remember that I've started to build my preamp in "fullboard-PTP" (no idea if the wording fits it), say Mako-ish, but without a printed board, so I've decided to give my Little Joe a new run with this method.

Two pics:

and here's the result

What do you think?

Thanks for looking

Olaf

That sounds killer Olaf.... NICE job!!!!

for me?

like you said.. "makoish". i thought it was lacking a bit of bottom end until you tweaked something at around 6:30 into the vid. that seemed to add more bottom end. very nice!

Good Lord Olaf!
Your ears must love to hear the same things as mine do, because, I simply love the way you voice your amps and preamps!

That sounds simply outrageously great to me!

Gary

That sounds killer! When you gonna start shipping them out? ;)

Thanks very much everybody, I really appreciate it :)

I have to get rid of the pop when switching from 2 to 3 (not vice versa) though . . .

@ Dave: I just added some volume - I always have to record at bedroom level here - unfortunately. You are absolutely correct of course, sounds much better a bit later in that vid.

That sounds fantastic Olaf!! Great work as always

I like the PTP board idea, very cool. I was thinking of doing this kind of thing myself with some of the rebuilds i'm doing. What board material are you using for this?

i try to take that into consideration. (bedroom level) i'll bet that under the proper cranked up circumstances it'll roar very nicely.. no doubt.

I'm glad that you guys are digging it :)

It is "FR4"/3mm material, Dan.
A kind of epoxy-board with cool specs.
Normally I'm using the dark green stuff, this board from LJ was a bit older (I've planned the whole thing a for a year or so) - it looks like this:

Let me know if you need the shop's adress, he sells many sizes (I buy 50x25cm board and then cut them) up to 2mx2m or so. But also the smaller stuff which fits into Marshalls - as you can see here:

Great job! That really sounds fantastic!! Great playing too

What's the reasoning behind using a full board like that?

That would be great if you could PM me the info Olaf! Thankyou

Does the shop have a website?

Thanks very much for the kind words. :)

@ Dan: Its a german ebay shop, I have the link in the office and will send it on monday.

@ Variable: In high gain amps the layout is important to avoid noise, to keep all wires as short as possible. Many high gainers are PCB for a reason - you can keep everything short and as close as possible to where it belongs. This fullboard-PTP combines the advantages of PCB (less noise) and PTP (easy tweaking, easy replacement).

wow olaf, sounds great and the playing is great too. What LPC are you playing on Olaf?
