I have to stay with "doctor" - no university was so kind to offer me a 'venia legendi' so far (who knows, I'm old but not that old . . . ).

Do you still use the CAE Preamp?

Yup, still using the same setup. I have a different looper now and changed a couple of pedals but the main ingredients are still the same.

Would you like to compare it to one of mine, Yoeri? I could send you one for testing . . .

Great, like always Olaf. I will own something of yours some day, for sure. I still think about that Black Tiger Pre all the time.

Thanks Casey.
I will probably go PCB with the preamps too, so it might not be too long until I am able to offer them. :)

Mmm very tempting but only under 1 condition. You send it over (I'll pay for the shipping) and you personally come and pick it up! I'll make sure Hunter/Christophe is available so we can have a little ampfest.

Just listened to the clips you put up...........

man,......that tone is AWESOME!!!!!!!

Great build I love the tone! Can you give some info about the topology of channel three? How many gain stages/cathode followers and where is the tone stack?

Merci :)

Channel 3 = four gainstages & a CF driving the tonestack, no cold biased stage included.

Does the tone stack feed the power amp or is it after the first stage? Sorry for all the questions :D

No prob, as long as you don't want to see a concrete schematic :D

In - V1A (feeds all channels) --> 22nF (tonestack channel 1) --> 1nF (rest of circuitry)
V1B - from tonestack channel 1 . . . . relay in front of loop
(relay after gainpots of both channels into) V2A - 2nd stage of channel 2/3
V2B - 3rd stage of channel 2/3 (in some amps I bypass this for channel 2)
V3A - 4th stage of channel 2/3
V3B - CF - feeds tonestack (think Marshall)
channel 2/3 volumes into relay - those into "main relay" to switch between 1/2/3 into loop
V4 - loop (series/parallel) - think Engl/Boogie, just better :D
V5 - LTP Phase Inverter (think Marshall, also with NFB as Marshall with depth and things, just different values)
V6, V7 - poweramp

Cool, thanks for the info! I'm a bit of a builder myself and def wouldn't ask you for a full schematic because I know how much work goes into tweaking a final product..

I've been working on high gain channels for the past couple years and I could spend a couple more decades trying to figure it out
