Marinated some tri tip, t-bone and sirloin overnight for the grill this afternoon, our chihuahua is 2 gummies in and trippin balls rocking her isolation muffs due to the insane fireworks which started on our street at dark, and going to do a chorus pedal shootout to ring in the NY!

New Years and illegal aerial fireworks are kind of a big deal here on Oahu and particularly in the region of the island where we live.

The greatest fireworks displays I’ve ever seen have been 10 minutes from home in a town called Waipahu. In fact all of the cities surrounding the three lochs of Peatl Harbor go off and it continues all the way down the west/Waianae coast and sections of the south in Honolulu, east, and north shores too.

The crazy thing is it’s all just random people lighting illegal fireworks in front of their homes, times10s of thousands of people spending millions on fireworks. We parked on the side of the freeway for 5 years in a row and watched the surrounding towns on both sides of the freeway light up before police cracked down the last two years.

HNY! My next door neighbor does a pretty extensive fireworks show. He was done by 9:30, I was done at 10:30 (as usual).

Was on my way to play a gig and we got rear ended. I normally drive the band truck and everything fits under the cap/bed of the truck. Bassist had a cut on his forehead and we were all shaken up quite a bit with a couple minor head injuries and had to cancel the gig (great $$$). Truck will likely be totaled. Couldn’t get kick or sub out of the back. Tow truck operator said we can get those today sometime as he’ll force a way either through the cap or smashed in tailgate.

The important thing is we’re all ok - as of now - including the driver that rammed into us. We were at a dead stop turning left waiting for traffic to clear in other lane just before 5pm. We were in a 35mph zone and that driver had to have been doing at least that.

Bassist wanted to borrow my SS Stingray 1/5 in magic blue and the case got cracked and part of the bass was chipped. My EBMM Axis case was cracked but guitar ok. Haven’t looked at other stuff yet.

Every July 4 here Firfighters go on 400 calls and peoples homes catch fire.
