I'm using them on a couple of guitars in drop c, and they are fantastic! Great feel and tone. Most stable strings I have tried yet for downtuning.

I emailed my DR rep for clarification. I hope to have an answer in the morning.

I don't know about the drop set but I love DR strings. Very consistent.

GHS Boomers 12-52 with wound 3rd...Tried 'em all, that what works best for me.

I switched to the ddt 11-54 sets a few months ago, so far i like them. I think the regular tite fit dr's last a tad longer but overall i'm very happy with the stability and tension of the ddt.

Used them briefly while recording my band's record...man, they were absolutely atrocious, they didn't hold tune (whether low down to A# or high to C#), they always sounded dull & lost any form of life within a few hours it would seem. We swapped all the guitars that were strung with the drop tuned DR strings to either normal DR strings or Curt Mangans & it made all the difference in the world. Don't waste your money. I have a bunch of sets of 13-65 in my garage that I will most likely never used because they just flat out fell flat.

Man, I thought I was the only one who used a wound 3rd.

Besides size, what's different about them?
I got this from my DR Rep (I sell DR Strings FWIW):

The DDTs are wound differently than our other strings (there's a patent pending on them, so I can't go too into detail). They are nickel plated on a hex core, so they are like the HiBeam electric strings in that respect. But because of how they are wound, they are more designed for drop-tune applications. You can tune standard as well, so no issues there.

My experience with DR's hasn't been the best, either.

I found that they didn't hold tune very well...I ended up inspecting the strings after having them strung up and found that the outer wrap breaks or stretches along the core at the tuning peg pretty easily. It's FAR worse on their tite fit line, as the round core allows easier stretching and sliding of the outer wrap (IMHO). It's a lot worse with locking tuners, as the locking pin can facilitate weaking and stretching of the outer wrap (if not outright breaking the outer wrap altogether). But however they wind the wound strings, I don't like it.

Of all the strings I've ever used, DR's were the worst with tuning stability and outer wrap breakage.

It's too bad, because I thought they sounded nice and kept a decent life for me.

Thanks for the info. It's too bad they wouldn't get into much more detail, leaves more questions than answers. I'll have to grab a pack sometime since I mostly use low tunings. Worth a shot.

that's crazy , Because I did a month long tour in october and used tite fits with no issues with tuning, intonation , and in fact i didnt even break one string the whole tour...

What I do for down tuning on my warmoth V is buy 7 string sets, and just don't use the high e string. Since I tune to B anyways with that guitar it works perfect. I have even used a lighter 7 string set for tuning to C. This works because I am tuning the strings to the tension that they are designed for. I haven't tried the DDT strings. Never had the need for them.

How many sets ya got laying around? Wouldnt mind trying these out at least.

Thanks guys! Just talked with my tech. He said they suck. Don't retain intonation.

What do you guys recommend? GHS, Ernie Balls or D'Addario? My band does hard rock and grunge from the 90s.

We tube a half step down and I play PRS and Gibson.

10-52? 11-54?

D'Addario has a 12-60 set that I use for B on my PRS and EBMM guitars. They sound great.
