Okay. This will be short and sweet. When I turn my from standby (or switch from being on the clean channel for awhile) and I try to use the second or third channel it acts as if there is a gate and the amp will not start playing until a good amount of signal comes through. Once I strike a hard power chord it comes on and plays fine acting similar to a shitty noise gate. It is limited to the 2nd and 3rd channel and does not do it on the clean. Is this a preamp tube issue?

Probably. Which amp? See official site for tube layout (tech section).

Herbert.....It just seems like odd symptons for a tube issue.

After looking at the tube layout none of the tubes are for the 2nd and 3rd channel only. The problem only affects the 2nd and 3rd channel.

Personally, I would put in a new set of preamp tubes. If it still did it I would retube the power section and change the fuses for the hell of it. If it still did it I would open the amp up and take a look around for any burns or loose wires, connections, etc. If it still did it I would smash the amp against the wall, go to a bar and get shitfaced drunk, come home and check it again. If it still did it :powpow:

No suggestions other than look at the site?
New V1 and / or V2 should solve your issue.

There's a time gap between the US and europe, well . . .

Yeah, it is pretty obvious that the "problem" seems to be within the preamp section. So the first thing would be to swap some ECCs/12AX7s around, then probably get some fresh ECCs/12AX7s and then we'll see further.
I'd focus on V1 and V2 . . .

the second triode of V1 affects just channel 2 and channel 3.

Why the fuck do my posts keep getting deleted? Yes I replaced those to no avail. I am confident it is not a tube issue but a tube socket or a cold solder joint.

Post a pic of the sockets. I didn't delete anything here.

Although not my pic you get the idea. I will post some of mine later tonight.

btw: amp on standby: no B+ on the power and preamp tubes.
Move the preamp tubes gently a bit forth and back.

And with very very few builders/techs hanging over at HCAF anymore, most "tech" threads are useless there.

Yea thats for sure. Yea I did that and it cuts in and out. I know it has to be a cold solder joint. I can see them.

Since I do the test management we don´t have
cold solder points.

Please check the clambs inside the tube socket.
You can tighten it with a small screw driver.

UNPLUG THE AMP !!!

Also a bit cleaner spray will help a lot.

Best,

Peter

Well I understand what you are saying but there are without a doubt cold solder joints. I will take pictures and post them. I have made enough of them in my life to know what they are :D On top of that 99% of the joints are perfect. It is obvious these are out of place. I am going to do everything that is suggested, but I am positive there is something loose. As I wiggle some of the pre tubes the amp cuts in and out indicative of a cold solder joint or bad connection somewhere. Possibly a dirty tube slot.
