I seriously hope that some time in the future these people say to themselves, man was I stupid for believing all this stuff and acting like this. Alas, I am convinced it is not to be.

The literal delayed the water request to get a consensus from the farmers in the name of equity, if human lives were worth more than artificial irrigation.
