Was possibly considering one in the future due to the quality and capabilities in these small devices.

Looking the 600-700$ units or under.....

What makes sense, pros and cons and which one would you gopher based on quality, function and practicality.

How easy is it to get to unity level on these with an amp...... main reason I kind of didn't include Line 6 Helix is because those were always a pain to play nice with an amp regarding unity level.

Cheers and thanks in advance.

P.S.

Fender why don't you make a more affordable "Core" ToneMaster MultiFx...... nvm the amp models but you know MoFos be buying those just for the reverbs.......

^_^

So used in 4CM with an amp?

In that price range I'd probably do an Axe Fx FX8 or AX8 or something

I like the Boss core, but for something like this I would do an axe fx unit or hx stomp

If I do use it plan on using it with a Princeton 112 to maybe rig jig an fx loop into it somehow using 4CM.

Not sure or just go in the front end as usual but yeah.

Mainly just concerned about unity level/gain and ease of doing that and quality of verbs and overall chorus and modulation and overall amp models.

Which one has a more real verbs or better amps in general?

Given the quality, function and price really considering my first multi fx to compliment a tube amp.

Would be interested but you can only seem to find them used and can't find them at retailers really.

I am a big fan of the ToneX, but don't buy it for effects. The effects are just a basic add-on.

I mean kind of just want good amp models and the reverbs to be a bit better than decent..... but if I'm plugging it into a Princeton Reverb it kind of doesn't matter and I'm kind of overthinking the effects part and yeah the amps is where it matters :dunno:

If you can get the HX stomp XL, go that direction IMO

best effects until you get to the Axe/Kemper price range.
I'm not sure if it's me or I'm dumb but I always felt that the HX stuff was harder to dial in into an amp and the Boss stuff or Headrush just seem easier in that sense.

It's hard to explain but getting proper unity gain is harder on the Line 6 Helix stomp stuff I've tried IME. I had a PODXT Bean back in the day and that seemed easier to dial to unity gain than the Helix stuff. The bigger ones are easier to dial in but the Stomp ones are a bit trickier.

Am I doing it wrong or was I just to high last time I checked one out or should I revisit them. Kind of want ease of use too and maybe it's me but its always been kind of difficult to dial in a Helix Stomp but yeah once you do they sound great. Is the XL easier to use than the regular Stomp or easier to dial in especially in regards to unity gain with an actual amp?

Do agree on the Line 6 sound, it's great but the Stomps were hard to dial in IME.

Honestly? It kind of sounds like you're doing something wrong. Literally all of these units have input/output volume controls, mix controls, and every setting under the sun in the menu somewhere.

What amp/effects loop are you running it into, series/parallel? are you trying to run wet dry? because that could definitely lead to some issues

Otherwise I have no earthly idea how you could have a problem getting unity gain with any multi effects unit by any of the big brands

This is just going straight in to an amp as I kind of do with most multi fx I try out.

I guess maybe it's the tapper on the Line 6 Stomps vs the others. It seems like it has a bigger tapper and it's smooth and has like a wider range but like too much range maybe.

A lot of the others have a lower range in volume and overall tapper it feels like for that unity gain "sweet spot" like on the Headrush stuff or Boss stuff in general IME.

Sometimes on the HX Stomp it would just feel wonky because it was too low and other times too high and going back and forth to amp signal to compare. It was just hard to find that sweetspot regarding unity gain going through different models too. Maybe it's just me but yeah once dialed in they sound great but felt kind of tricky to use in that regard in relation to unity gain with an amp.

If it's going straight into the front of the amp that makes me understand your issue with unity gain even less :ROFLMAO:

I guess it could be the taper? I've never noticed a difference, but maybe its an impedance thing with your specific amp, idk

Not using with my amp. Just at a store, in general the Boss and Headrush stuff just has seemed easier to dial in IME in regards to unity gain overall.

Not sure why but overall do agree the Line 6 stuff sounds phenomenal when dialed in. Will probably check them out again and see what's up or the newest XL tough and give it a shot.

Kind of was leaning Boss but Line 6 is great too. I like the reverbs Line 6 has to offer and the amps are good but the modulations on the Boss stuff are classic and amps are comparable.

Definitely need to revisit Line 6 for sure though and check out an XL. Have tried an Axe FX and yeah have to agree on that the Line 6 stuff is great short of that. I figure it's just a learning curve too user error on my part or just something I have to adjust.

Everyone is on a learning curve trying to figure out the best way to use this stuff the best way possible man

I just spent 36 hours trying to update the firmware on a kemper, lol

I just have never noticed anything weird about the volume of those, in any way, so it immediately gets my thinking cap on

ToneX is totally dependent on you finding amp captures you like. The reverb is ok for a basic behind the tone reverb.
