Heard of this guy, Jeff Kollman?

He's great! I used to play shows in the Toledo area sometimes in a band back in the 90's when he was in a progressive rock band called Edwin Dare. Check that band out. He shredded tastefully back then too.

I was selling a Quickrod on craigslist several years back, and got an email from a dude who said he was in the studio all day, but would like to come check out the amp.

Didn't think much of it, because I live in LA, and "in the studio" is not particularly meaningful. :D

Fast forward to later that evening, and this dude pulls up in a BMW SUV (looking respectable), and gets out carrying a double gig bag. I decide he looks ok, invite him in, and we go back to check out the amp.

Very long story short, dude plugs in, and proceeds to blow my fucking mind!

He wasn't in love with the QR, but I ended up running him through a Peters Gryphon (which he wanted to buy).

He stayed for a little over an hour, and absolutely floored me with his playing. I mean, FLOORED.

I've seen him play out once (he invited me down), but it wasn't like I heard that night at the house; dude is an absolutely amazing player, and I've been lucky enough to be around some pretty talented folks.

He couldn't have been a nicer guy; if I had a triple digit IQ, I would have begged for some lessons.

Hadn't thought about him in quite a while, until I saw this thread!

Jeff is a genuine badass!

Been listening to Kollman for years, probably like 20 now...he always has amazing tone to go with that great playing.

Love the guy. Satch should bring him on the next G3.

Monster player for sure... Enjoyed his playing since the Edwin Dare days

Yeah man, hearing him one on one (with no accompaniment) was nuts; one of the coolest moments of my guitar playing life.

Such a badass. I saw him at a local music store doing a clinic years ago and he was amazing (and super cool dude as well). Support the cause and buy some of his music - you won't be sorry :>)

Probably the best under-the-radar player out there. He had a band in the 80s/90s that was pretty good, but nothing amazing. I haven't heard any of his newer studio stuff. But he's an incredible player who seems to stay behind the scenes in the industry.

i could sit and listen to guys play like that all day...genre aside. just love it. thanks for sharing...

and yes...killer player...
